hi,
you cant.
your going to have to get a mid priced universal with extended features. read the packaging. thrift stores sometimes have a bag wall with old remotes so if you have someone who goes to the thrift store sometimes tell them to start looking for either a vcr or tv remote that says emerson on it for you. directv and dish network universals have video input buttons, if you have eith of those providers go to their website, download or find the chapter where it shows how to set up your viseo input. it is shut off by default..

If your DISH remote is programmed to your Toshiba TV, you can press the TV button at the top left of the remote and then release. This will put the remote in TV mode. Press and release the TV/Video button just below the clear TV button. This will cycle through the inputs on your TV. Continue to press and release until you have Video-1 displayed on your TV screen. I hope this helps.
It took me forever to figure it out. Press the input key, just below the 9. The TV channel should be on 3. Make sure you put your DVD in and press play manually, so you can see that it is on.
If the TV has a tv/video button on the front panel you can switch to video and just operate the DVD with the DVD remote If there is no TV/VIDEO switch then you will need a universal remote with TV/VIDEO menu,PIP etcIf you dont have a remote for the dvd player the solution is basically the same a universal remote howerver you can operate the dvd player from the front panel
If you have the original remote, you can switch from the TV tuner to the audio/video input with the INPUT button. It is to the left of zero on the numeric keypad, above the CLEAR button.
Press it again to get back to the TV tuner.
This is due to switches malfuction due to corrosion in switch and dust accumulated in the switch. Since you rarely used switch now after failure of remote of remote control you tried to operate the switch. Another thing you said did"t get picture, maybe memory problem is there. This can be sorted out by the technician only.
You will need the original remote i'm afran to switch to the video mode. I have located an original replacement here:http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=STV2763&brand_pn=ORION_STV2763&mode=large&uid=11832633145460
There is a picture of the remote. You have to press TV/AV button on this remote to switch to the video mode. Good Luck
