SOURCE: Black ink print failure after cartridge replaced

The Edge, -Clean the electrical contacts on the printer where the cartridge connects with alcohol. After it dries clean the same contacts with a regular pink, non-abrasive pencil eraser making sure you remove all the debris when done. -Its also possible there is an air bubble preventing the flow of ink. You can try inserting a full cartridge of ink in the printer and letting it sit overnight then running a nozzle clean job or two. Another alternative if you have a syringe you may want to try gently forcing ink into it. If you?re really desperate you can try drilling a small hole into the cartridge to give gravity feeding a hand. BE WARNED the air hole will let ink flow pretty well and you run the chance of making a mess. Before you pull the cartridge out of the printer make sure you cover the hole with tape so the ink doesn?t make even more mess. -Check the cartridge alignment making sure the contacts are mating to the printer. -If it still doesn?t work I would try cleaning your nozzles. Even though I doubt you have clogged nozzles its worth a try because of the following: If you search the Internet you?ll find that this specific model is know for failing to print some or all colors after about 1 ½ to 2 years of use, even with Epson inks. Most of the posts I?ve seen blame it on clogged nozzles but I suspect a good number of them, like yours, have another explanation for their failure. Ink jet printers use resistors to create heat to create a bubble in the ink to eject it out of the nozzle (Bubble jet) or in the case of Epson, vibrating crystals push ink into and out of the nozzles (piezoelectric). We?ve already cleaned the electrical contacts and cleaned the nozzles so what remain are defective nozzles, short between the nozzle and the controller board or a defective controller board. Since the printer is only worth 1 or 2 hundred dollars repairs at a shop or buying these repair parts can easily exceed ½ its cost. Hope something here works for you, I just recently had to toss a great printer too. Let us know what happens and please don?t forget to rate the posting.

SOURCE: New black ink, but wont print any black ink

Epson Printers are terribly designed. There is a known issue with them related to clogged ink wells. Below the cartridge the ink dries in the well and makes the printer unusable. I have seen this many many times and will NEVER recommend an epson printer. Most of the time I will have people go out and buy a new printer only because of the fact that you will be paying 50-70/hr labor for someone to FIX/Clean your printer. If you want to try to clean it yourself go ahead. I have done it in the past with varying success because it is more trouble than its worth to remove the inkwells and clean them properly. Buy an HP printer. The difference is that the HP cartridge is what contacts the paper directly. There is no inkwell inbetween to get clogged. When you buy a new HP cartridge you will replace everything between the ink and the paper. Epson is just a poorly designed product. Hack

SOURCE: Epsom stylus CX4700 won't print - new ink cartridges installed

They cut costs on Epson compatible cartridges by using low quality ink and chips or not resetting the chips at all. Sounds like you got cartridges that the chips were not reset on so your printer thinks all the cartridges are empty. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I would never recommend purchasing compatible Epson cartridges from anyone. I would buy refills of Epson brand cartridges and make sure the seller reset the chips.

Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution Plus
Re: Epson printer problem

You will want to press the button that you use to change the ink cartridge (the 3rd button). Once the carriage is in the "cartridge change position" you can unplug the printer. Then you are ready to flush out the heads. Click here for cleaning instructions http://www.wesesweb.web1000.com/printhead.html

The instructions are fairly easy to follow. If you need the head cleaning solution click here .http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kea0.html

Repairs: All Epson Stylus printers (except for the C64-C86, CX4600-CX6400 series) which don't print, or print choppy in black or color. For the other printers, as well as Canon BJCs, use the other repair kit.

Description:

  • This is the same chemical used by Epson in their service department
  • Easy to use, no disassembly required
  • Gently dissolves even the most stubborn clogs and restores output to dried out print nozzles and clogged printheads
  • In our testing on an Epson 600 that sat unused for several months, it 100% restored a head that had no output, with one application (Individual results may vary)
Note: This is not alcohol or Windex; it is an ink-specific solvent that has proven to be safe and effective for use on Epson printheads. Do not use alcohol or Windex, they will very likely ruin your printer.

Kit Includes:

  • 1 oz bottle Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution (enough to fix several printers)
  • 1 syringe applicator for dispensing solution
  • Simple directions for use
Price: $9.99 order form on link below

Replaced black ink but will not print in black epsom CX5500

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Black printing very faint or not at all, cleaning print head makes little difference Brand new Cartridge

Sometimes it will print faint black even if there is a new black cartridge, because the color cartridge needs to be replaced as well.

Make sure that the cartridges are genuine Kodak cartridges, as well, for maximum performance and reliability.

Cleaning heads can use up a lot of ink, by the way.

The black ink print is very very faint

Indicates that the printer is using only color ink to create a black color. Check printer settings to see if you can set it to use only black cartridge. Also try printing with only the black cartridge inside if the printer permits, this way you can be sure if the black print head is faulty.

My printer not printing at all- paper just rolling out with scant

if you haven't used the printer for a while before you discovered the bad print quality, the print head has most probably completely dried out. i don't think there is anything you can do about that, except for replacing it better having it replaced by an authorised technician.

Epsom stylus all in one dx7450

press 'Control' + 'P' on a page (as tho you want to print)
click 'Maintenance'
there you'll find various options to clean heads etc, that should do it. tho it does deplete your inks considerably each attempt. & you'll probably find it needs more than one clean.Good luck!

Printer cartridge problem

I have a 440 and have had the same problem. Of course, I have been using cartridges from Printpal, Inkgrabber, etc. that are not official Epson. I have found that it takes several cleanings and after the cartridge has been in the position for the ink to go down it will start. My last order from Printpal said to set all the cartridges in the position they are in when installed in the printer for several days prior to installation. Of course, every cleaning of the print head uses up more of your ink. You don't have much choice though.

RX500 EPSOM STYLUS PHOTO PRINTER Won't Print

I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.
