I have a viper c e 0890 installed in my 2007 dodge Caliber. My car starts making a grinding noise while i am driving and then eventually turns off and won't start again. I took it to the dealership and they replaced my starter. Last nite it happened again and the dealership seems to think it's my remote starter that's causing the problems. I'm a youn single women that has been stranded twice now on the freeway in sub-zero temps...any thoughts on my Viper remote starter being the culprit here?

Try to relearn the tach by cranking the car and holding the valet switch(small black push button) until the LED lights solid.The try it again

Alarms are not supposed to shut down the engine while you are driving if it was installed properly. Could be another installed accessory or the car itself has a problem. If it was in anti-hijack mode, you would receive a warning like honking horn. You may have to visit a repair shop and maybe your local Viper dealer to have them take a look. DC

Did you connect the tach wire of the unit to your car? if not you need to refer to your documentation to turn on or off the tachless operation for the unit to work correctly.

press and hold the ( P ) button until one long beep is heard, you now have 5sec to push the lock button to turn on or off the vibrate, wait another 5sec and it will automaticaly exit programming

Unlock doors
Push and hold f button for 8-10 seconds until amber light is on solid
Push Remote start button for about 4 seconds till amber light flashes 3 times
Put key in to IGN position
Push valet (black button) one time and release
Push and hold valet button
Push either lock or unlock on viper remote
Key out of IGN
Test unit
The horn or siren may sound afterwards to indicate SUCCESS!!!!!!
