You need to call your provider to let them tell you if you are out of minutes or what the deal is. If you are out of time then it may just be saying prepaid as the type of plan you have and not work further until you get more minutes on the simm card or account for the phone.

AT&T phone on Straight Talk (sprint)? Unfortunately, AT&T uses GSM which is not compatible withSprint's CDMA technology.
Straight talk runs on the Sprint network, same as Boost and Tracphone. Although some phones are the same, some only work on certain networks.

How to use APN
The first thing you'll need to do is find the right APN settings for the network you want to use. For example below are the APN settings for Straight Talk.
Name- straight talk
APN-tfdata
Port-80
MMSC-http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy-mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port-80
Once you have all this information, grab your phone. Settings>wireless/network settings. More options>mobile networks.
Once you found mobile network settings, rest will be the same on all devices. Look for "Access Point Names" then tap on it.
You should see a list with at least one APN. Add new.
This is where you will enter the settings you got from your carriers website. 2 very important things here:
    1.Not every setting in the "edit access point" screen will need filled in.
    2.Be sure to type in everything exactly as provided by your carrier. Once you have settings provided by your carrier entered, you need to save the APN. You do that by pressing the 3 dots in upper right and selecting "save" option.
    Once your APN information is saved, go back one screen to the list we saw earlier. On this screen, tap the new APN settings you just entered to make active.

Recently used Straight Talk Bring Your Own Phone Activation Kit to convert T-Mobile phone to Straight Talk. Worked for 3 weeks, then suddenly stopped working.
Don't mess with the vpn' this is for vertial private network. Shut the phone down remove the sim and replace it then reboot.

Flash to straight talk
I believe straight talk uses CDMA and GSM devices. For GSM devices it is a matter of putting the sim card in the phone (if it is an unlocked phone) and adding the APN settings, under Settings/Mobile Networks. Please go to http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn to get the settings for your phone.

If it is CMDA, I would take it to a local cell phone flasher. It would require more information than APN setting to make it work properly. Most CDMA flashes are done with CDMA Workshop or DFS.

Pantech p9020 and straight talk
Go to settings > Connectivity > Network Connections > and click "Create" on the bottom of the display.

Then you can enter the settings you were told.

1. go in to settings, wireless and network, make sure wifi is off, then go to mobile networks, make sure data is on, and open access point names.
2. click menu, reset to default, THEN click menu, and new apn like this (if not on this list, leave alone!):
Name: straight talk
APN: wap.tracfone
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com
3. click menu save, then go back, select the straight talk apn you created.
4. turn phone off, turn phone on, and data should now work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
