Craftman 42 inch mower slings deck belt everytime

I have adjusted and adjusted the deck belt so many times and it still comes off. I even got a slightly smaller belt and it slings off. Its almost like the retention pulleys are worn where the belt slips out of them. The one retntion pulley is at a slight angle and almost looks mis-aligned. Would worh out pulleys possibly be the problem? Can I adjust anything else that will help? Also one of the spindles feel like it needs grease. There are no fittings to put a grease gun to. Is the spindle possibly heating up and causing the belt to sling off?

You did not finish the statement about without the blades but if your saying what I thing you are...Ah Oh Sounds like you may have a bent crank..Did you hit something with the blades...take the belt off and start the motor..and Check for wobble of the V drive there should be NONE if it does it could be bent itself or the crank...good luck

Just looking for a belt diagram for my 42 inch craftmans mower deck

Go to this website, upper right hand corner and do a parts look up. Search for your model and that good stuff they ask of you and then choose mower housing should be there, browse the site it's really cool and has a lot of info. http://www.jackssmallengines.com
I did a sample search for generic riding mower deck and found great diagram of belt routing. Give it a try you will find same results Good Luck!

Craftman 20 1/2 with 42 inch cut deck is leaning more to the front how do you adjust

If you look at the front of the mower there are two rods that attach to the front of the tractor frame. On these rods there are 3/4 nuts that are the mower rake adjustment.First start by positioning one of the blades to a front/rear orientation. <easure the height of the blade from floor at the front part of blade and then the rear. The front measurement should be a maximum of 1/4 inch lower than the rear. Loosen up the lock-nuts on the adjusting rods and turn the nuts clockwise, this will pull the front of the mower deck up.
