How to send a fax

The 1200 error indicates the cartridge carrier has stalled. It could be caused by a cartridge that's not properly seated or the encoder strip (transparent strip behind the cartridge carrier) is out of place. Refer to the printer's User's Guide on how to connect your Lexmark X5470 to your telephone line for faxing. If the printer software is already installed on your computer, you can access the printer's User's Guide by going to the Start menu -> Programs -> Lexmark 5400 Series -> User's Guide (applicable to Windows OS). If not, you can download it from the Lexmark website for free using this link: Lexmark 5400 Series All-In-One User's Guide. Scroll to page 12 for the fax setup instructions. Also, check page 71for faxing instructions (sending, receiving, etc.). Hope this helps.

It could be due to some dirt on the scan lens on the printer. Refer to this article on How to Clean the Scan Lens and White Roller on the Lexmark X4250/ X4270/ F4270. I hope this helps.

Hi. To send fax on your X4270 printer, place the document in the feeder facing down. For additional information on how to send a fax, here's a link to the Lexmark website where you can download the User's Guide. http://bit.ly/d3t61I . Click on Publications tab on the center of the page. Choose User's Guide (Lexmark X4250, X4270). It will give some instructions, as well, on how to do other functions/features of the printer.
