If your Viper 5706V car alarm and remote start system is displaying error messages and not functioning properly, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check the Display: Look closely at the error messages displayed on the remote control or alarm system. These messages can provide valuable information about what might be causing the problem.
  2. Check the Wiring: Make sure all the wiring connections are secure and properly connected. Loose or damaged wires can cause communication errors and prevent the system from functioning correctly.
  3. Check the Battery: Ensure that the battery in both the remote control and the vehicle is fully charged. Weak batteries can lead to communication problems and errors.
  4. Reset the System: Try resetting the Viper system by disconnecting the vehicle's battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can sometimes clear any temporary glitches in the system.
  5. Check Antenna Placement: The antenna for the remote start system should be placed in a location that allows for clear communication between the remote control and the vehicle. Check if the antenna is properly positioned and not obstructed.
  6. Review the Manual: Refer to the user manual that came with your Viper 5706V system. It may contain troubleshooting steps and error code explanations specific to your model.
  7. Seek Professional Help: If you're unable to resolve the issue on your own, consider seeking assistance from a professional car alarm installer or a Viper authorized dealer. They have the expertise and tools to diagnose and fix complex issues.
  8. Update the Firmware: If the system's firmware can be updated, consider updating it to the latest version. New firmware releases often include bug fixes and improvements that could address the error messages you're encountering.
  9. Remote Control Programming: Sometimes, error messages can be due to issues with remote control programming. Follow the instructions in the manual to reprogram the remote control to the system.
  10. Check Sensor Connections: If your Viper system includes additional sensors or accessories (such as door sensors or motion detectors), ensure that they are properly connected and functioning.
Remember that troubleshooting complex car alarm and remote start systems might require specialized knowledge and tools. If you're not comfortable with the troubleshooting steps or if the issue persists, it's recommended to consult with a professional who is experienced in car alarm and remote start installations.

SOURCE: disable viper alarm

Yes the best way is disarm the alarm and put in a Valet Mode
To activate the Valet Mode do the following:

There is a push button or toggle switch to disable the alarm (to engage the valet mode). Without knowing where this
switch is you won't be able to disconnect the alarm.

1. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position.
2. Flip the toggle or hold the push button for at least 5 seconds.
3. The LED. light will stay solid on.
4. Turn the ignition off
5. Release the push button. If you have a toggle leave it alone in step 2

Directed Electronics (Viper) Car Security System

First of all did you remove a connection from the battery in your car so that the system can reset?
Try that first and at the same time take the batteries out of the remotes for a minute or so and hook back up.

I have a viper 5706v remote start/security alarm on my 2007 honda accord sedan. When I remote start my car no inside lights, ac/heat unit, or the radio comes on. Just the engine is running.

the accessory 1 and or 2 wires from alarm brain are most likely loose or not connected at all to the accessory wires on the ignition side... hence the lights and accessories not coming on but engine does...
if you installed it I would recheck those wires... if a shop installed it I would take it back to them...

Remote start will not work, it keeps giving error message of 8 parking light flashes which say the neutral safety switch isn't grounded, but it is. Any ideas?

is there a toggle that was installed inline? If the unit doesnt see a ground on the neutral afety switch wire, the remote starter will not crank.

Viper remote cranks motor but doesnt keep running. Tried valet switch and still does not start. Just fixed anti-theft on car by leaving key in ignition. Did this cause the remote not to work correctly?...

did it ever work before?

A couple things here. It is best to have a "tach wire" and the system needs to be programmed to learn the tach signal in order to know if the car is running or high reving or dead. If it gets no signal of the sort the next option is voltage monitor, it monitors the voltage for an increase to show that the alternator is running. Either way that signal is not gettting to the viper brain or it has not learned that signal. You need an install manual, did you install the alarm?
