I have a Canon Powershot Camera, a few years old, I've never had a problem with it. I only have a 512MB card in it, but I bought a 4GB and it says "memory card error" or "card locked" The card is not locked, and when I try to use the format option on the camera, it is not a valid option. I have tried 2 different cards with no luck. My old 512 still works, but I want to be able to take more video. Do you have any idea why my camera will not use the new 4 GB cards?????
It's a good bet that anything 4GB or greater is a SDHC card (look on the card, see if SDHC is written there). Your A530 was designed before the new SDHC format came out. Sorry, but your camera will not recognize this type of card. Recommend instead that you get a 2GB standard SD card. They're relatively inexpensive these days.

A 4GB card is known as an SDHC card...probably not accepted by your camera. Stick with the manufacturer's recommendations. You could go to the support section of Polaroid's website to see if they have a download for your camera model that would permit the larger card.

Same problem but with a different camera. Turns out, these cameras are very... may I emphasize very... picky as to which cards to use. Try other off-brands and you'll be surprised as to what it takes.
