Have you figured out why this USB drive shows 0 bytes used and total space and asks you to format before any access? Is it displayed as RAW file system in Disk Management? If so, do not panic! From my understanding, the easiest way to convert drive RAW file system to NTFS is to merely format it on your PC or laptop as you usually do. However, if you do have performed formatting processes there several times already, you'd try it on another computer or other professional format tools online to take chances.
And one more thing, have you left any important data on this RAW file system hard disk? If you do, in order to rescue your desired hard disk, you've better take chances with external hard disk RAW file system recovery software.
NO matter what your situations are, learn a lesson to prepare drive data backups well from now on to avoid such hard disk data loss troubles.

Transcend jet flash v33

Hi Virus or Trojans can run some process that keeps running in background. This not only harms the computer, but also prevents the pen drive from formatting as it shows that the drive is in use. Remove and re-insert the pen drive, don't double click on drive and cancel autorun operations if it starts automatically. Run a virus scan on pen drive, this will help fix the issue. Now format the pen drive.

Hi

Sounds like you may have removed it from sytem without ejecting first and this has caused a mini surge. You can try taking it to a reputable computer shop that specialises in data recovery but there is a good chance the device has had its day.

Sorry

On opening a pen drive it is showing 'please insert a disk into removable disk (h:)' and opening its properties it is showing used space 0 bytes free space 0 bytes

Hello there yogeshpat876.

Here's your geek-steer ...

Is this a new drive? If so, it probably just needs to be formatted [and optionally assigned to whatever free drive (letter) you desire]:

Start > Run... > tpye "diskmgmt.msc" (without quotes), then OK

Good luck, and please do post back ...
  • to let me (and interested others) know how things worked out,
  • to provide clarification or feedback,
  • if you have ANY further questions.
Today's the best day of my life ... and NOW you're part of it!

Pen drive display free space 0 byte and used space also 0 byte

Try formatting the drive. Assuming Windows XP, just open your "my computer" icon, right-click on the device and choose format. Be aware, formatting will remove any data you may have had on there previously.

If you're using another OS, or if it's an existing drive, please re-state your question giving further details (what OS, what you are trying to retrieve, etc).

Pen drive is showing o bytes

I would first put it through a fast formatte then a standard formatte, then i would recommend asector scan and see if there are any sectors that are not recoverable, if they are messed up and or still not solved try to uninstall the file that has stored the recognition files for the pen drive remove the main file in c drive program files , find the file by name corresponding to what it is you have and delet it then do a full shutdown and after a full cold start reboot install pen and software when asked if you still experience this post the results and i will try to help in a higher level of tech knowledge and support

Alright, plug the player in with your USB cable.

Open "My Computer" and find in on the list of drives and CD-Roms. It will be called something like "Audio Device" or "Removable Storage Device". Make sure you find the correctly icon for the player.

Right click the player then select the format option. You'll probably want to use a FAT32 format as it is the usual format for MP3 players and flash drives of the like. This will totally erase any files on the player, so be forewarned before you complete this.

Raw file system is basically the media in it's standard state. All the information is recorded as zero's and this is how your computer is seeing it. It is either reporting incorrectly due to bad file system error, or simple was formatted incorrectly.

Give that a try, let me know what happens. :) Hope it helps.
