My Creative Zen seems to have frozen up on me.

I have a 4GB Zen hooked up to my computer so I can manage the music files. No matter what I do it tells me no device is attached. Now that I have unplugged my Zen, it is still showing docked on the screen, and the battery shows a key over top of it. i'm about to flush this thing down the toilet, I've tried everything, it seems to be frozen...please heelllpppp!!

Use a paperclip to push the reset button throught a small hole on the bottom of the Zen. If the battery is dead, you may need to plug it in for a minute and then push the reset button while it's charging.

I need help in downloading music to my MP3 player. I have a Creative Zen Vplus

Hi
According to Creative Labs, you should either be using the Creative Media Explorer if you are new to MP3 and WMA ripping and want to build up a library or prefer to manage your Zen player as a removable disk drive, or using the Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer if you "frequently need to playback or organize music in your computer".
The Zen player can handle three primary types of audio files too, the common MP3 format, WMA format and the more unusual WAV format. It's quite likely that your existing audio files are in one of these formats, probably WMA if you've been using Windows Media Player to rip your CDs. If you've purchased your music, it'll be in WMA DRM, that is, a version of the WMA format that includes digital rights management (so you can't just email a copy of the audio file to your pals once you've purchased and downloaded it). Those can play on the Creative Zen too, fortunately.
To actually hook up your Creative Zen MP3 player to your computer, you'll need the included USB cable, which should connect as shown in this spiffo Creative illustration:
http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/creative-zen-audio-usb.png (chek the above figure)
Once you've hooked it up, the Zen unit should automatically go into USB connection mode (wouldn't be very zen-like if it didn't!) and then you should be able to find the device by opening up My Computer on your desktop.
When you really dig into the Zen user's guides, you'll find that they recommend Creative Media Explorer for transfering audio files: just click on the "Import Media" button in the application, find the MP3, WAV or WMA files already on your computer, and it should be easy to then copy them onto the player.
That should get you going.

Creative Labs Zen Mosaic 4GB Black

Start in Safe Mode: hold Reset in and hold Play/Pause in, then turn on. Choosing reboot usually solves this problem.

My zen is frozen on creative

If a reset does not work then try this: First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!

Instruction for zen mosaic by creative

I think alot of people are having the same problem I was. We got home, opened the box, plugged it in the computer, and nothing useful happened so then we installed the mini-cd. Well the thing is windows stops looking for a driver once it searches and finds nothing, and unfortunately those of us using XP do not automatically have the drivers. So...

SOLUTION
------------------
-If you have not already installed the mini-cd, do so, or download from Creative's site in the support section(if you do you might want to grab the latest firmware update)
-Once pack has been installed the drivers have been as well, BUT as I mentioned we now have to tell windows to look for them again.
-Reconnect your Mosaic
-Right click "My Computer"
-Chose "Properties"
-Click the "Hardware" tab
-Click "Device Manager"
-A window will pop up and you will see a long list with (hopefully only) one thing under the "Other Devices" sublist. It should be something along the lines of "Creative Zen Mosaic". Right click it
-Chose "Update Drivers"
-Follow prompts agreeing to search and auto install
-Once install is done, in a moment the screen on your Mosaic will say "Docked"
-Congratulations!
If you have downloaded the updated firmware this is the time to install:
-Ensure your Mosaic is in "Docked" mode
-Execute the firmware update
-Click "Upgrade"
-Wait (it takes a moment or two)
-Updater will say it is complete
-Mosaic will reboot
-Click "Close"
-Congratulations!

Hope that helps.

I have the 8gb Zen and I usually end up with a frozen screen when I upload music. I unplugged the Zen and then use a needle to reset the player. It located at the bottom right.
