Interesting.

I have only encountered this issue since using Audlogics software to remove duplicate files on my machine.

Nothing against Audlogics, I have used it before to remove duplicate images or mp3s without any problems.

This time I (maybe foolishly) scanned the entire machine and removed every duplicate file with every extension (whilst keeping an original)

Since then my machine crashes, especially when using Chrome, and gives this error upon restart. It will eventually restart.

It works fine in safe mode and does not crash at all.

I am about to go back in and try it in normal mode and run various software to see which one causes the crashes.

I'm confident that the hard drive is still fine though.

    yes foolish.
do not delete files you do not know the purpose of. OK.
reload the OS, and you undo your blunder.

SOURCE: i can't boot up. it display error 2100: Hard disk

This issue is often caused by either an incorrect setting in BIOS or a bad boot device, such as a bad hard disk drive.

Try this:

Verify that your hard disk drive is setup and detected properly in BIOS. You're computer should list a hard disk drive installed either under the main page or the drives page in BIOS. If BIOS indicates the drive is not installed or not detected skip to Hard Disk drive is bad or not connected properly.
Verify the boot options are properly set in BIOS, almost all BIOS setups should contain options specifying how your computer boots. For example, most computers should have their boot options setup similar to the below example.

- Floppy drive
- CD drive
- Hard drive

Rest your BIOS to default values. Many BIOS will enable users to reset the values to the default settings. If you've tried the above options without success try resetting the BIOS.

Boot from either your emergency repair disk, your bootable Windows CD, or your bootable restore CD.
Once boot attempt to repair Windows. If you're able to repair Windows remove the disks and reboot the computer.

If the above fails:

Verify the connections are properly connected to the computer if the hard drive was recently installed or the computer was moved.

If all connections are setup properly and all the above recommendations have been attempted, it is likely that the hard disk drive is bad and it will need to be replaced.

Re: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

It is telling you that there is a problem with your hard drive. If you know how to get to your bios screen and have a recovery CD you should be able to restore it. That is IF the hard drive is in fact not defective. Otherwise you will need to to take it to someone who does computer repair and either let them replace the hard drive or depending on your ability do so yourself or purchase another laptop

How to fix error 2100: hdd0

The ThinkPad system may experience a bluescreen that may only appear for a very short time, followed by a reboot. During POST, the system will display a POST 2100 error code indicating the drive cannot be initialized. The machine will not boot into the operating system.
NOTE: Powering the system fully off and then on again after 20-30 seconds will usually clear the error, but a warm reboot will not.
IT have personally experienced this issue twice so far, & Lenovo posted an advisory on this in July.
If you have encounter this issue since getting your T440 notebook, it's highly recommended to update your SSD to this new firmware.
The firmware updater is windows based, & is non-destructive (does not affect existing data) so it's easy to update.
To be absolutely safe though, it's recommended to back up your essential data before installing this firmware update.

Also recommended is to use CCleaner registry cleaner which solves the problem temporarily.

Hard drive not working..unable to boot up. Get this error message : 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD) Press Esc to continue

Please try re-seating the hard drive.

If you look at the bottom of your laptop, along the edge there should be a screw larger then all the rest which holds a small panel. Remove this screw and panel. Remove the drive pulling lightly, with steady pressure, straight out. Place the drive back in and screw the panel back.

We had a lot of these issues, and they were often solved by just this manner alone.

Let us know if we have to go any further.
Good luck

Lenovo r 61, type- 8933 am 7 error 2100 hddo error (1) pxe-e61 media test failure pxe-m0f exiting broadcom pxe rom

Hi chetan5karma,

I see that you are having issues with you Thinkpad R61 Laptop getting an Error 7, PXE-e61 Media test Failure.

I Believe the Error that you are receiving means that the Hard Drive in your Laptop is not responding anymore or is not anymore fixable, the error that your mentioned states that your "HDD" Hard Drive needs to be replaced on your Laptop there is no other way to fix this error you Hard Drive is already undetected and most probably not bootable anymore.

You can google pxe-e61 there will be many possible causes but all fall in replacing the Hard Drive, the only option your can try with this concern is removing your Hard Drive and reconnecting it back again, this is to see if the Laptop will detect the Hard Drive again or not.

Also you can try reformatting the Hard Drive using a Windows Installation Disc to see if it will be detected by Windows.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for choosing Fixya,
