Sounds like the color wheel is not turning properly. I would recommend calling 1-800-samsung to set up repair with an authorized service center. I would not try to replace it yourself. The part costs $120.00- $180.00.
much of it is pretty straight forward, the only hard part is putting the ribbon cable thru the hinge for the top screen, without ripping it, best thing to say is put the ribbon cable in first, then the wifi and mic cables (black and white), rest is pretty straightforward.
if it is just half of the screen and the rest is black- you need a new screen. If it is half the screen all squished together (you can see the whole desktop) you need to reload the video driver
