Your phone may be locked to its Network, that's why it shows "sim card not valid". In order to use other Networks, you need to unlock your phone. Do you insert your card in a wrong direction. If not, the card should be pressed in by your finger simply as you can fell there is some elastic and it will be fixed when the card go to the end.

I sure hope you mean an SD or an SDHC card, since the D40 doesn't take CF cards.

hello there....well its quite simple...there is nothing wrong with your phone ...its your SIM... if it is asking for a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code...call your subscriber and ask them for PUK code,entering this code will reset your sim
if u keep entering wrong your sim will be damaged so call them
If the error message is saying sim damaged call them and ask for a "sim replacement" you will get a new sim while you will retain the same number ,however you will lose the phone numbers and other data stored in sim,this can be free but it depends on the company and how 'customer friendly they are

Well ...bad news. PUK locked that means your friend typed 10times wrong code and now sim card is locked for good-can not be used anymore.If you are on contract then call your provider and ask for new sim. If you wanna keep your number you can ask your network provider and see if its available(in 95% NOT). Even you'll get the new sim with your number all numbers stored in old sim will be gone.

most probably you have not switch on the wireless mode. make sure you have wireless mode ON. than it will ask you for network code. than you can enter the code. or also make sure you are putting sim card in correct direction.

I have a samsung sgh t629 now I have the code to unlock it. but the part where it says to put in a sim card from that is locked out of your phone...I did that now the sim card is saying I need to unlock it, it gives me three tries. Now the unlock code I received tells me to put in *2767*3855# which will reboot my phone but I cannot put it in if the sim is requiring a 4 digit code to even press anything. Now I need to know how to get pass the sim lock please help and e mail the results to me at [email protected] thanks so much

In most cases putting in your sim card will in fact lock the phone. but it's not permanent. So try it. put your sim card in.. if the phone works, then you don't have to worry about unlocking it. If it does lock the phone, just put back his sim into the phone and it will be fine. There are many places that you can unlock phones or even purchase unlock codes. This is NOT illegal, phone carriers just make it difficult to do. Good luck and let me know of the results.
