I am having trouble with receiving downloaded information on my phone. How can I reboot it?

I am having trouble receiving downloaded information from emails and also trying to get onto facebook. Do I need to reboot

My Cisco IP Phone 7945G keeps rebooting after I did a factory reset. Is there a way to fix this?

According to Cisco, when initiating a factory reset procedure certain information from the IP phone is erased while other information is reset to the factory default value, as shown in the list below:


Information Erased:
  • CTL File (Certificate Trust List)
  • LSC File (Locally Significant Certificate)
  • IP Phone Call History (Calls Received, Placed, Missed etc)
  • Phone application
Information Reset to Default:
  • User configuration settings (ring tone, screen brightness, sound levels etc)
  • Network configuration settings

t is highly advisable to follow the firmware upgrade procedure in a non-working environment to ensure other phones are not affected (in case of an accidental reboot), and to avoid the freshly factory reset ip phones obtaining the working environment's settings.

You do say what type of equipment you have but one of the easiest tricks we have regarding this issue, is to unplug the Receiver or DVR from the power for 10 seconds and then let it reboot itself. The receiver is getting a software update and if the message stays on your screen for an extended period of time the download could be failing.

Try unplugging the receiver for 10-15 seconds and then plug it back in to allow the receiver to reboot itself. If the message returns and doesn't disappear after a 20 minute timeframe we will have to replace the receiver.

My dish network guide does not update. random time slots say "No info available". I unplugged the receiver and the machine rebooted, but the guide did not change.

Check if your phone line to the receiver is working via the phone line. Make sure the receiver is correctly programmed for your phone service (outside line prefix if needed, rotary or pulse dialing.

Are updates enabled? The program guide is downloaded overnight when the receiver is off. If the unit is on, the updated information may not be downloaded. You can reset the time that this download will occur (it will turn off automatically at the scheduled time if not disabled). (Menu - 8 - 5 is the appropriate part of the menu on one receiver to set the time and enable the feature.)

You can also use the Inactivity Standby feature on some receivers to get the program guide if you leave the unit on all night. (Menu > Preferences > Inactivity Standby) By default a prompt will ask you if you want it to go to the standby mode after 4 hours of no activity (remote or front panel).

How long did you have the unit off when you rebooted it? Try leaving it unplugged for 15 seconds (no trickle power).

Dead keypad

When all else fails "reboot". Try taking the battery out for about 20 seconds. Put it back then see what happens. It worked for my problem with the phone ceasing to ring.
