Hasbro MasterMind does not install on Windows XP or Windows 7 ! Do they have a newer version available ? I loved the game but it only played on Windows 98 ..... Anyone have any ideas ? Thanks...

Have you tried running the installer in compatibility mode? Right click on the installer (usually setup.exe or install.exe, and if you have it on a CD, you need to open the CD in My Computer as a folder by right clicking and choosing open), go to Properties -> Compatibility -> Check the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' check box, and select 'Windows 98/Windows' ME from the drop-down menu. Apply the changes or click 'OK', and try to run the .exe -file. If the game successfully installs, and you can't still launch it, do the same to the game's launch .exe -file.

How to install Windows XP software,..... in Windows 7

This is a short guide on how to install the Windows XP compatible Driver or Software/application on Windows 7 system. There are many applications and hardwares which are not compatible with Windows 7. For example, many old machines/computers don't have drivers to run all the hardwares on Windows 7. Of course, most drivers have been updated by the respective manufacturers, but still there are numerous left out.
In this demonstration, I am going to use CDS/ISIS for Windows (Winisis) as the software which isn't compatible with Windows 7. I don't mean you should install this to perform the steps, but I am only taking Winisis as an example, the steps should be more or less similar and I do hope that readers will definitely understand to perform following the steps below.

Step. 1. First of all, download or save the driver/software/application setup file i.e. install usually named as "setup.exe" on your computer. You can create a folder or you can simply save the file on your Desktop. The setup file may have different names, but that's not the matter as long as you can identify which one to run. Now locate the setup.exe file, in the below example, it's "Winisis15_3".

Step. 2. Right click the setup file, and click "Properties" from the right-click drop down menu.

nonontech_62.jpg

Step. 3. The properties "Dialog box" will pop up, cick the "Compatibility" tab.

nonontech_63.jpg

Step. 3. Now on the "compatibility" section, click select the check box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and click the tab just below the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", from the drop-down list, select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"

nonontech_65.jpg

Step. 4. Now, select the "Run this program as Administrator", cick "Apply" and then "Ok" to close the Window.

Step. 5. Go to the folder where the setup file is saved, double-click to run, the Window 7 "User Account Control" warning message dialog box will pop up (if it's not disabled) click "Yes"

and follow the onscreen instructions to install the software/driver/application. The install steps will proceed ahead without any problem. Once the install is completed, restart your computer for the changes to take effect. You do not need to restart after every install, but if you are prompted to restart, do so.

Cheers!! You now have windows xp driver/software/application installed on Windows 7. Thanks for dropping by :).

NB. You can also perform this on Windows Vista to install Windows XP driver.

*Please leave comments for issues related Windows 7, I am ready to share with you all and am also glad to learn from you too..

Reader rabbit software won't install

If you are attempting to install this under Windows Vista or Windows 7, it may be a compatibility issue. Open computer and right click on the cd/dvd drive and click 'explore'. Then look for 'Setup' or 'Setup.exe' and right click on it and click properties. Go to the compatibility tab and check the box next to 'Run this program in compatibility for' and select either Windows XP (any service pack) or Windows 98 if that does not work. Also check the box next to 'Run this program as administrator' and click 'OK' at the bottom. Now you should be able to run Setup.exe and install the program.

Downloaded drver for my printer. the add new printer wizard can't

Hi ...

If you have the driver CD that you recieved with your printer, follow the below steps to install the saftware:

  1. Turn on your computer.

  2. On your computer quit any open applications, including virus checkers.

  3. Insert the MultiPASS MP730/700 Setup CD-ROM into your CD drive. The [MP Setup] splash screen will appear automatically.

    1. If MP Setup does not start automatically, on the Windows desktop, double-click My Computer (on Windows XP, click Start then click My Computer).

    2. Double-click the CD-ROM icon. If MP Setup does not start, double-click 'Setup.exe' (on Windows XP, 'Setup').

  4. In the MP Setup splash screen, click 'Install MP Drivers'.

Note: For Windows 2000 users, if Service Pack 1 or later is not installed, MP Setup will display a message and installation will be aborted.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions, clicking the appropriate button to move from one screen to the next.

  6. MP Setup will install some system files and may prompt you to restart your computer. If you are not prompted to restart, click 'Finish' in the MP Drivers Setup window and then proceed to step 7.

    1. If you are prompted, make sure radio button 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now.' is selected in the MP Drivers Setup window and then click 'Finish'. DO NOT remove the CD-ROM at this stage. MP Setup splash screen will open after Windows has restarted.

    2. If you had to restart your computer and the MP Setup screen is not displayed or you closed it, on the Windows desktop, double-click My Computer (on Windows XP, click Start then click My Computer).

    3. Double-click the CD-ROM icon. If MP Setup does not start, double-click 'Setup.exe' (on Windows XP, 'Setup').

  7. In the MP Setup splash screen, click 'Install MP Toolbox.'

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions, clicking the appropriate button to move from one screen to the next.

  9. At the MP Toolbox Setup dialog box, click 'Finish'.

  10. Confirm the MultiPASS is turned on.

  11. Connect the USB cable to the MP730 and computer USB ports. Windows will detect the printer and proceed to install the driver files.

  12. Your MultiPASS includes additional software applications that you can install now or at a later date. To install the software, click 'Install Utility Software' and then proceed through each installation.
You can also download the drivers by visiting the below link and selecting your operating system.

The game was released in 1998, and was developed for Windows 95/98.

To make the game run on Windows XP, try the compatibility for the installation and after it is installed use the same steps for making the game executable file compatible.

Note: Some game ".exe" file (executable file) would let you make changes in the Compatibility option, whereas older games might not give that option at all.

You can still try to make the game compatible for installing it on the Windows Vista by following the steps below.

1. Insert the game disc in your CD-ROM drive, if the game setup or the autorun starts, exit it.

2. Open "Computer", Right Click the Cd Drive which has the game disk in it and select "Copy".

3. Go to your "Desktop" right click and then select "New" and click on "Folder" this should create a new folder on your desktop.

4. Open the New Folder and then Right Click and select "Paste".

6. After all the files are copied to the "New Folder" without any error messages then locate the file "Setup.exe" or "Setup" and right click and click on "Properties".

7. In the new window click on the "Compatibility" tab and run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows 98/ Windows Me" and then click on "Apply". (You can also try "Windows 95")

8. After applying changes double click on "Setup.exe" or "Setup" to launch the installation.

You can delete all the files copied from the CD after completing the installation

After the game is successfully installed right click on the game shortcut or the game ".exe" in the root folder of the game and click and click on "Properties".

In the new window click on the "Compatibility" tab and run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows 98/ Windows Me" and then click on "Apply". (Again, you can also try "Windows 95")

The game files need to be copied to the hard drive because the files on the game disk would not let you make changes while on the disk.

There are lot of files that need to be changed in order to get full functionality and to communicate with operating system and the hardware, hence there is no guarantee that the game might run even in cases where you will successfully install an older version of the game with the above mentioned steps.
