This should all be done in safe mode and with system restore turned off for now.

    also try this
It is a problem with Photoshop.
Version 7 but it sounds like 6 also does this. You can re-install
Photoshop, just don't make it the default program for opening Jpg
and Gif files (during the photoshop installation process, anyway).
After Photshop has been installed, you can go to the file types in
"Folder Options" (under tools at top of all folders) and make it so
Photoshop opens Jpg and Gif files.
    Another problem is with Spysweeper.
Disable Spysweeper or even uninstall it and you'll get rid of this
problem. I fought with this issue on a computer a friend had until I
    figured that out

Explorer.exe - application error

Try the following to gather additional information.
Run a test on the hard drive(s) for any bad sectors via chkdsk
Run a memtest to verify the integrity of the physical memory. I would suggest the memtest via the Knoppix CD.
Look in the Windows Event Viewer, Application and System log for any possible resource contention issues or other system problems.

Iexplorer.exe-application error

I'm suspecting you have a bad stick of ram. If you have more then one stick, take each one out individually and see if the problem goes away. If it stops then you know which is the bad stick.
