SOURCE: I accidentally locked myself out of my acer

You can first go and remove the CMOS battery it is located under the lap top you will have to unscrew some plates and find it. It is a small round battery also you can re-install the complete Operating System using the restore disc that came with your computer this is the last resort. When you remove the battery and leave it out for about 20 seconds it will reset the CMOS to default settings.
If you remove the base plastic cover to expose the memory ect.. All you have to do is locate the wifi card then remove it (very easy) you will then see the system board battery. Now place a flat screwdriver so that it touches both of the wires going to the system board from the battery. Do not do it for a long period of time. Touch it and leave it go and place it back together and off you go.

If this does not work you can go online and get the Acer Aspire Notebook default passwords that often work as well to reset it. Most factory settings use these default passwords when they run into this type of situation. Also if nothing I suggest works then just do a complete install and do not add a password again or if you do remember it.
I hope that this helps you out a bit. John

hi.
there are two ways to completely restore settings of a computer:
1- enter Bios of your notebook (by pressing "delete" repeatedly") and select restore to manufacturer's settings.(or load from manufacture settings). THIS CAN RESTORE SETTINGS OF YOUR HARDWARE.

2- for restoring settings of Windows:
restart your notebook and before windows starts up (showing "windows starting") press F8 repeatedly.
then choose "load from last good configuration".
