It may be the control itself too. In time, these controls can get dust build up inside it. There are volume control spray cleaners available from Radio Shack or other electronic parts stores. The cheat on cleaning the control is to just rotate it from stop to stop as many times as it takes to clear the noise.

Emerson volume keeps going down related problems. Ask your Emerson ... myEmerson TV. It turned itself down to zero and stayed on the screen and wouldn.
Okay, at this point some trouble shooting is needed. Unless you have a multi-meter and know how to use it you need a professional. Surges in thesource may cause this as well as poor grounds in the builings electrical sysytem.
i am having the same issue, volume shoots down to zero for no reason and I can only use the digital display to increase the volume, the actuall volume controls do not work. can anybody help with this
Are you sure the monitor can handle speakers? Maybe it has it's own speakers, maybe it has no speakers at all. You can always plug the speakers into your CPU into the sound card, it is usually the green audio port.
That said, some things that you can trouble shoot.
Make sure that the volume is all the way up on the desktop.
Make sure that the volume control is all the way up in the control panel sound option
Make sure that nothing has been muted, the control panel allows you to selectively mute a single device.
I had the same issue, there is a Late night mode on the remote that minimizes the volume of a loud scene so you don't have the constantly adjust the volume. Works great if you are trying to watch a movie while others are trying to sleep.
The loud screeching is probably due to the headset mic volume being too loud, or the campatability setting on the base station is in the wrong position for your phone.
To register a new earpiece to a base station, simply put the headpiece on the charging dock and leave it there while you disconnect the power, wait about 20 seconds and then reconnect the power. All the lights on the base should flash a couple of times and then the green charging light will start fashing as normal. The headset should then be registered.
