Both myself and my wife have ipod touch one 16gig and the other 8gig and within the last week we both lost the ability to FF, Rwd, while playing audio books as the progress bar is no longer there.

There are two ways to add music to your IPod touch, depending on the model you have, and if you can connect your iPod to a WiFi network.
First, you can sync your iPod with iTunes. You need to have music in your iTunes library first, then you connect the iPod to your computer. When the sync screen comes up, go through the tabs and make sure it is set to sync your music library.
You can also download music directly to the device if you are connected to the Internet directly, and you have an iTunes account.
When you are on the 'Now Playing' screen (where it shows the play and skip buttons with the artwork), tap once. You should have the progress bar show up.
if you have ALOT of pages fullll of apps and a bunch of videos pics and music then your ipod will be extra slow... just delete a couple of huge things eating up your space..
what size usb is it?
Some products only handle up to a certain size.
(It Might take a 8Gig but not a 16Gig for example.)
I'm wondering this myself as I'm getting one fitted next week.
Load iTunes on your computer, and make sure that you have the latest version. Verify that all your music is backed up. Performing a hard reset will erase all content from your device.
Connect your iPod via the USB cable.
Wait for your Ipod to appear in the iTunes source list on your computer. If it does not appear, then you may have to connect in "disk mode."
Select your iPod from the Source list, and select the "Summary" tab if it is not already selected. You should see information about your iPod displayed on your computer screen.
Click on the "Restore" button. This will begin the first stage of the process of resetting your iPod to its original "out-of-the-box" condition. A progress bar will let you track the process. It may take several minutes. Once it has finished, leave the iPod connected to your computer.
Watch, as the next stage begins automatically. The Apple logo should appear on your iPod's screen, along with a new progress bar. Wait for it to finish, and leave the iPod connected.
When a new window appears on your computer screen, follow the prompts for naming your device and setting your preferences. When finished, you may re-sync your music and disconnect from your computer.
I would like to advice you that, Install a iTune software & just synce you ipod with your PC files & it will get music. Copy paste is not working in ipod you must have to synce ipod to play music.
