This not an uncommon problem. Many people don't seem to realize that it is best to use the original OEM cord and charger for charging a device. Using a nonbrand name can cause a lengthy list of problems, including sub-par quality cables, which could actually damage your device.
Visit your service provider, one of its stores or mall kiosks and purchase the proper USB power cable.
Have you tried using another charging cord? There could be a fault there. If the cord is the only one you have, see if you can find a friend with the same phone to test whether theirs works for you, then buy a new cord if that's the problem.
Sometimes it helps when you keep the cord connected to the computer and use the function to disconnect it from windows. The screen will turn from "USB connect" to "charging". This worked for 2 or my 3 players....not sure about that third one.
In order to charge via a Computer you will need the following:
A. USB cord that your phone can plug into, and be plugged into the computer.
B. Install appropriate drivers for your phone. (This is important, the operating system usually wants to know what it is doing with the device prior to providing power to it)
C. The phone must already have a 20% charge or more. (This is a usually set by the phone manufacture since computer usb power is only 3.5 volts and normal charging takes place at 20% or less only when the phone is receiving 3.6 volts or more)
Vista is your problem. Solution...buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.
If your iPhone is not charging when you plug it into a wall charger or into you computer's usb port, this is a usb connectivity issue and the connection just needs to be reset. All that needs to be done is plug the iPhone's cable into the phone but don't plug into the computer yet. Hold the phone's select button (the round button with the square) down for about 30 seconds or until the apple appears on the screen. your phone will reload and reset the connection and the computer should recognize the device. Allow the phone to charge for at least 30 minutes before unplugging.
you can use any USB cable, there is nothing specific about any particular brand... now the computer has to recognize the phone. You need the software/driver.
