I'm having the same problem. Have already reset several times, changed the battery, shaken it up, turned off and on and everything and anything friends have suggested. Even used the vacuum.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Had it worked any day? I'm experiencing a problem like this, however if I tele the lens to the max (20x) and take a picture, the LCD screen return to works.

When the LCD is not working, try to put the display showing the histogram. Copy a picture into the MS PRO and try to view it thru the HX1. Can you see this photo?

You won't damage it...just open it.
