Yes you can.remove two screws from under one side pull it away slightly and it will come away.you will then have one housing on both sides left in the fridge wall, they will have a little pressure on them from the springs. just prise them away. you will need help to replace them, as you need pressure against the spring to keep the door closed. you can buy springs and housings seperately from camec there is left and right housings.give me a call if you need to ..

On some models you don't have to pry the door in any way. Look up under the closed door on the right side and you will see a small hole there. Put an eighth inch diameter nail through the hole and push until you feel the spring compress into the hinge housing. The door will release from the hinge and come out towards you. Then lift the left side out. You can get the hinge housings on Ebay. That is usually what breaks. Look for upgraded parts.

I have a Dometic RM2962 RV Freezer. The freezer door gets stuck only when the unit is turned on and cold. Ever hear of this problem?

Question edited 'Domestic' to 'Dometic'.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to dometic.

It could be a few things.

Freezers have a heated door frame to stop condensation forming into ice and freezing the door shut. Yours may have failed.

The circulation fan inside does create suction.

Try spraying the gasket and frame with Jigaloo dry silicone spray.

GE refrigerator constant irregular beeping

It looked like your model does NOT have an external ice/water control panel which has caused beeping problems on some models.
For your model I would try the following....
Door Alarm
The main cause of a beeping GE unit is an open refrigerator door. Some models are equipped with an internal door alarm, which trips when the door remains open for 3 minutes or longer.
One way to check this .... put your smartphone in the refrigerator on video mode and close the door. The light should go off with the door shut. If the video shows that the light stayed on when the door was closed ... then it reinforces that something is wrong with the switch/alarm. Repeat video for the freezer.
Door Seal
If beeping persists after the freezer or refrigerator door is closed, the door seals may be blocked or so dirty that the internal door alarm is tripped. The seals can be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water. Also, an item inside the refrigerator may be preventing the door from fully closing.
Cooling System
Reactivating the refrigerator's cooling system includes a beeping noise. When the refrigerator is off, the "Off/Off" light appears on the door display. When the "Adjust Freezer" and "Energy Saver" buttons are held down for approximately 3 seconds at the same time the beep sounds and the "Off/Off" indicator disappears. Hold the "Ice Off" and "Freezer" buttons to activate the cooling system inside of the fresh food compartment. A beep signals the system is activated. The beeping should stop after the cooling system turns on. If it fails to stop, try unplugging the power cord to reset the connection.
Power
The GE's internal door alarm can get stuck. Try unplugging the refrigerator for about 10 seconds and then plug it back in. If the beeping continues, the internal door alarm might be broken or defective. Contact the manufacturer or a technician for further assistance. One way to check this .... put your smartphone in the refrigerator on video and close the door. The light should go off with the door shut. If the video shows that the light stayed on when the door was closed ... then it reinforces that something is wrong with the switch/alarm.

Good luck on your troubleshooting!

What is the climate control switch do on a model 2852

During very cold ambient temperatures the refrigerator may stay cold enough to seldom need to operate the cooling unit. The thermister (thermostat) is in the refrigerator and tells the cooling unit when to operate. With the refrigerator staying cold enough because of outside temperatures, the freezer may not be kept cold enough. The Climate Control Switch keeps the light on in the refrigerator when the door is shut so the unit will operate more often, keeping the freezer cold enough. Dometic recommends turning the switch off during warm weather.

Have a GE Model #GSL22JFPHBS side-by-side refrigerator that the freezer is staying cold but the refrigerator part is not get cold.

its either the defrost heater or defrost thermostat or the defrost timer has gone bad and the evaporator is iced over,HINT: (you will see the inside rear panel in the freezer has frost on it) and the evaporator fan cannot blow cold air over the iced up coils in which case soon the freezer will start to seem warm too,if this isnt the case then its the damper vent door located between the freezer and fridge compartment that opens and closes to throttle cold air into the fridge from the freezer, sometimes they freeze shut from condensation or the door hinge breaks and it can jam shut, also if theres excessive water dripping into the fridge from the top it can be a plugged drain hole and water blocks cold air flow, also make sure the evaporator fan beneath the evaporator coil in the freezer is operating when the units running or cold air wont be pushed into the fridge either

Freezer won't stay shut

If you want a part number for the replacement door gasket please provide a complete model number here so I can give that to you or you can look it up yourself at www.searsdirect.com You must have your model number. (sample 110.XXXXX etc)

The magnet is inside the door seal itself. If the seal is damaged replacement is your only option.

Thanks for using FixYa!
