You haven't supplied much information on the boot problem ?
Restart your computer and enter BIOS
mode.
On most computers this is done by
pressing the Delete ot F2 key but will vary depending on your computers bios
other keys Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc , ALR PC: (F2) or
(Ctrl)(Alt)Esc) , Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc). Scroll over to the "Hard Drives" tab,
and make sure your computer has the hard drive assigned to be on.
Often during BIOS you can select
auto-detect or change options with your hard drive to make sure Windows can
recognize it.
Once you've selected your desired
options, continue to boot.
Restart your computer During the boot process you will see on the screen a certain key to press usually the Delete or F2 to enter setup this may vary depending on your computers bios other possible keys Acer: - Ctrl +Alt +Esc
Download the manual, for detailed setup instuctions.
The bios can set to reset by removing the cmos battery on the mainboard and insert it the same way again.
But you have to setup the bios settings, clock, date, boot settings. The battery can also be renewed, it sometimes rans out of power. The battery is a cr 2032 3 volts watch type.
Try not to upgrade the bios, unless you 100% sure it`s the right mainboard !!!!!!!! Flashing the bios with a wrong one, will destroy the mainboard.
you will have to set one as a slave or set as a raid pair During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart (note after you have loaded the operating system you must go back and change the first boot device to your hard drive) The BIOS is AMI. Under ADVANCED SETUP: The options listed for 1st,2nd ,3rd Boot device include:
IDE-0 means Pri master ? IDE-1 means Pri slave ? IDE-2 means Sec master ? IDE-3 means Sec slave ?
You should have an option on the dc7100 in bios to enable sata in the devices section. Mine always worked fine with sata. If nothing else works remove the security chip, reset the cmos and reboot with the Hard Drive connected and it should connect. If that doesn't work Try flashing the bios just in case it got corrupted.
Hello sir, hi your boot error can be caused by the following:
Your IDE hard disk is not the first boot, and wrong available boot on the bios. Check your BIOS setup for proper boot device.
Your IDE hard disk has bad serctors, since its P4, I estimate your drive to be 8 years or more. You may need to format the hard drive again and reinstall your OS (windows XP).
IF your HD cannot be formated, or no amount of windows installation can be done on the disk, its time to replace it.
Your IDE cannot be detected by the motherboard. check your BIOS configuration for proper hard disk setup.
Your IDE hard drive and your CD drive are both master or both slave, set the hard disk to master and the CD drive to slave. The settings can be seen on the case of the HD and CD drive.
Your IDE ribbon cable is bad.
Your 4 pin molex power cable to the HD is loose.
If I miss out something, please let me know. thanks.
#1. Does the CPU fan run if not then you may have a conductivity problem between fan and CPu. Did you use thermal paste or grease?
If fan is running follow directions below from my manual for MS9377C+ mainboard.
Go into the BIOS setup ,go to CPU setup, select proper voltage for you CPU. On Advanced setup page see if the hyperthreading function is revaeled. If so your CPU has this function. Set "Enabled " to test HT CPU function. If this doesn't work try "Disabling" the function. Good luck. I am about to attempt tp upgrade to a Prescott 3.0E which the box says this board supports. Sure hope so . Am running a 1.7 now. [email protected]
"The BIOS Setup program can be used to view and change the BIOS settings for the computer. The BIOS Setup program is accessed by pressing the <F2> key after the Power-On Self-Test (POST) memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins."
That is from the manual for the board, instead of reinstalling Windows you may as well just change the product key on one of the installations to your other copy.
get working processor like that of your son's system and working ram, remove both the processor and ram on the system and substitute with the new ones and try booting.
