My Canon Digital Rebel XT won't delete photos

I have had my Canon Rebel XT for about a year and a half and have never had any problems with it. Last weekend, I took it with me on holiday and took new pictures and erased old ones on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday I went to shoot some more and found I had no room left on my memory card, so I hit the delete button (you know, the little trash can icon) and nothing happened...as in, the "erase, erase all, cancel" options didn't even appear on the screen. I thought maybe the button was just stuck but I pressed it again and again, harder, and still nothing. So, I switched to a different memory card, thinking maybe that was the problem, but still had the same issue. I can still delete photos from the memory card by connecting it to my computer but I need to be able to delete them off the camera as I travel a lot and don't have computer access during those times. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a solution? The camera was not dropped, tampered with or even touched between the time I erased photos on Saturday night and the time I went to erase more on Sunday. I'm completely baffled...any ideas?

I have the same problem. When I press the 'trash' button, none of the delete options appear. I probably shouldn't do this, but I have found that if I shake my camera (one firm jolt), it works.

    Any suggestions?

Delete button not working

Delete button will only work in the PLAY setting (for playing back the images on the LCD screen) OR, immediately after you've taken the photo and it is still displayed on the screen.

Blackout pictures with my Cannon eos rebel xt

Remove the lens, clean it and then reattach it ensuring it is on correctly. If problem persists, bring camera and lens to a Ritz Camera, camera shop or better yet a canon certified repair shop and have them look at it. Good luck.

Camera drains charged batteries

Most likely your batteries are just not holding a charge. However, before you spend good money on new batteries, try charging them on another charger (friend or sympathetic photo shop?). Could be the charger also. Usually it's the batteries, though.

Canon rebel only one have of a photo comes up on the screen

Would have to know more of your problem.
It appears like you have either damage to the LCD or internal loose cables. Possibly internal damage could cause this as well.

Shadowy line across lower half of photo

This may be a censor dust issue. Get it checked through Canon service at the earliest.
