Cannot add printer to PC on network

I have a desktop PC running Vista Home Premium. A Kodak 5300 AiO printer is connected locally to this PC and printing is set for sharing. Printing works fine from this printer. I also have a laptop with Vista Home Premium and another desktop PC with XP SP3, all networked through a Belkin wireless router. From the XP machine, I can find, add, and use the printer. The laptop used to be able to print, but at some point it lost contact with the printer. I cannot add to printer on the laptop. When browsing the network on the laptop, I cannot even see the printer connected to the Vista desktop.

Kodak 5300 all in one printer will not scan. Cannot get on line with 5300 a10 home center program, tells me printer is not connected

try to unplug replug the usb cable of the printer.

You may also go to control panel printer and faxes and look for the printer of your 5300 now if you see 2 icons delete them both then exit to printer and faxes. and unplug/replug your USB cable then restart computer.

If this issue not solve try to uninstall the software and download the clearutility kodak.com/go/clear. then after doing this restart computer.

Can I use my Kodak 5300, installed as my network printer on a desktop running Windows XP with my new laptop running Vista? If so, do I run the install disk (with Vista drivers) on the laptop or what?

you should be able to as long as there are Vista drivers available.

make sure you first share your printer from the desktop it is attached to. then on the Visa laptop try to Add Printer choosing network printer (as opposed to local printer) and browse for the shared printer. Vista should tell you it has to install software so allow it to. Have the disk ready (does it have Vista drivers on it do you know?).

Word of caution: Vista's a little quirky with networked printers so you may have to delete the printer on the laptop and add it back if it doesn't work the first time (I had to do that even though all machines involved were Vista :/ ).

Cheers.

Dell 3300 Printer Adapter and Vista

Vista is tricky when adding networked printers.
Add printer by using a local device, not a networked device.  Assume the printer is connected locally to the machine.

Kodak AIO Easyshare 5300 scanning problem

Could be USB connection if you have another cable try it. Try connecting to different USB ports on your PC. If you have a Powerd USB hub lying around try connecting the printer to the PC through that.

Also try disconnecting all USB devices including the printer. Reboot your PC. Connect only the printer and try and scan.

Some times multiple USB devices dont work when they are both connected to the same PC.

Hope this helps!

Kodak EasyShare 5300

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Since I am not sure of the details, let me offer a long review and suggestion. It may work for you, especially if the AiO software is not installing correctly.

If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or an error message appears, there may be a problem with the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation. To resolve this condition:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add / Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Programs and Features (for Windows Vista).
3. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

IMPORTANT: If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not perform this operation on those other versions. Follow this procedure ONLY for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

4. Click Change / Remove (for Windows XP) or Uninstall (for Windows Vista).

5. Select Repair, and click Next.
NOTE: A progress bar shows the repair progress.

6. After the repair is complete, make sure the Restart the computer check box is selected, and click Finish.

7. After the computer restarts, start the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

IMPORTANT: If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or continues to display an error message, completely uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and do a clean reinstall KODAK AiO Home Center software. The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 will also be reinstalled with the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

1. Follow steps 1 - 4 above.

2. Select Uninstall, and click Next.
IMPORTANT: Uninstall ONLY Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not uninstall them.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Perform a clean re-installation of the KODAK AiO Home Center software:

a. Disconnect all USB devices from the computer, including the Kodak EasyShare all-in-one printer.
NOTE: Do not disconnect your mouse or keyboard.
b. Uninstall the Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software:

1. In the Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Program and Features (Windows Vista).
2. Select one of the following software programs from the list of currently installed programs, depending on which one appears in your list:

Kodak EasyShare software
Kodak all-in-one printer software
Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software

3. Click Change or Remove (Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista).
4. When the Install Wizard appears, click Next.
5. Depending on the issue(s) you are experiencing, do the following:

- If you are experiencing errors with the Kodak EasyShare software, such as a Tricode, in addition to errors with the KODAK AiO Home Center software, select Remove, click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions for removing the software.
- If you are not experiencing errors with Kodak EasyShare software, select Modify to uninstall only KODAK AiO Home Center software, and click Next.

6 In the Custom Setup window, select Remove from the drop-down menu for the Kodak All-in-One Printer, and click Next.
vii. In the Ready to remove the program window, click Next.

ix. Restart the computer.
