Same issue, had to format my v2000 laptop and couldn't the driver from the compaq/hp website said somethig about the inf file... found this, it might do the trick for you... it worked for me..

that's every driver.. I don't know why it's under v2600, maybe because of HP and Compaq's merger, but either way, this works..

Drivers for compaq are only for vista use a program that checks computer for drivers and search for drivers named in list

Hi, Drivers are very OS specific. Pls what operating system are you using, Windows XP, Vista or...? It is also easier to let the computer detect and autodownload necessary updates and patches rather than manual selection and downloads. The only reason I can think of that you need the drivers is when you reinstalled the OS without the original recovery CD and did a fresh/clean install. As said, pls post back with your OS. my video controller will not install
i have a lot of problems like:
Base system device
pci modem
sm bus controller
video controller (VGA compatible)
everytime i go to compaq's website and try to install it, it says that it cant. and when i go to my device manager, it says that nothing exists for it....HELP!
The biggest problem is at the site there are all these other model numbers like V2000 CTO and my system doesnt have anything other than the V2000 so how would I guess which set of numbers or letters goes after it?
I'm running XP Home and cant find the video drivers I need :(
so as final answer we just let windows to download it automactly?
I have the same problem. I reformated my hard drive so I could install Fedora Linux, but now I can't find the correct driver to run my DVDs. The computer is a V2000 AMD Sempron with the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card. I will try to google ATI drivers and see if that fixes the problem. I am off now. I will check back to see if anyone has a fix to this.

I recently re-installed Windows XP-Home Edition on my Compaq Presario v2000 notebook, and now the device manager says that my Video Controller is not installed, but every driver I download says it is not compatible.
i have Presario V2000 Sempron 1.8 GHz / 512 MB (DDR SDRAM) / 60 GB, 4200 RPM /14 in. WXGA TFT Active Matrix. I reformatted and re-installed WinXp and download all the drivers from HP website; V2000, V2000T, and V2000Z. none of all the drivers that i downloaded can be installed in my computer. it seems like all the drivers in HP website is for INTEL motherboard, not for AMD.
