When plugged in, the ipod batteries go low immediately.

Try changing the audio source/input on your car stereo to USB.

The batttery is faulty, take into an apple store and they will replace it.

Use itunes. It's made to work perfectly for the ipods. You can update the firmware and software using that. You can do a lot with itunes.

Change tags, info, and make playlists, update the whole ipod, reformat it so it's like new.

Please restore it and check

I've called Apple support on this before. They told me to make sure that the Ipod is set for Manually manage music in the Ipod settings of ITunes. You should restore all software in your IPod to factory settings before doing this.

for this... first plug the ipod to computer then restart the system.... i had the same problem, it works.

iPod batteries are cheap on ebay...like $5...and come with installation instructions. Try installing a new battery and see what happens...?

I ran into the same problem about a month back. I tried everything to fix it. I finally brought it into the Apple Store and they said something inside the iPod was fried and they didnt have the tools to open it up and fix it righ there. They guy just gave me a new one for $32 (a battery recycle fee) I didnt have a warrenty but it was less then a year old. MY suggestion is to bring it in and see if they can fix it but more then likely your going to need a reapair.
