My washing machine has stopped for years but now I unplugged it to use the outlet for something else and when I plugged back in nothing. No lights no start nothing. Yes I checked the power source. Why is it suddenly not getting power?

It sounds like the door latch is not working correctly. As a safety feature the unit will not run without sensing the latch is locked. Check the male end on the door first. If that is not broken then you will need a new door latch assembly.

I have an Asko W6424W Washing Machine that froze mid cycle and all of the lights started flashing. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in after 1/2 hour and nothing changed. Any ideas?

When a machine stops mid cycle is usually because the pump is jammed with something that was in the wash or the pump has failed. If the board calls for the pump to run and it doesn't within 2 seconds or so, it will stop all actions.

You can try a proper Power Reset. Disconnect over night, press and hold the power button for a full minute, then plug is back in.

It may also be a Control Board fault. Ideas in the link.

I have a Paykel & Fischer washer, Model GWL10U2. It just stopped, leaving some water in the tub (1/2 load of laundry). Tried to re-start, nothing. Checked the outlet, unplugged it, plugged it back in,...

You need to understand that we can't see what you can. When you say it stopped, does that mean there is still power on & lights showing but it won't start or is there no power at all. Big difference in the way each will be fixed. If no power lights at all then you will need to call a service company as the main control board will have died.

Look around at outlets that are close by and make sure you didn't trip one of your GFCI breakers or plug in something to the same outlet and make sure you have power at the outlet where the washer is plugged into.

No power

test the outlet with something else (lamp, voltmeter, etc) If no power, check the breaker. If you have power, try holding the button in for a few seconds, but make sure the door is latched well first. Try to start it on a different cycle.
