The Time/Date battery is a small round lithium battery the size of a dime in the battery compartment. You can get the numbers off it and buy one at Walmart or Ebay.

The SX10 has a standard flash mount, which will fit just about any flash unit. The manual recommends the Canon Speedlite 220EX, 430EX II, or 580EX II units. Other manufacturers' flash units will also work, though perhaps not as automatically.

The big thing to watch for is that older (film-era) flash units may have higher trigger voltages that can fry newer digital cameras. Before buying such a unit, check this list.

Try resetting the Canon by removing the battery for 10 mins then insert the battery and set the Date and Time.

Maybe you can find this in the owner's manual of your Canon Powershot.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

please use the batteries of the same spec. IE - 4 two 3000mA. please read the instructions carefully - they do mention that you have to use battiers of the same power rating.

this unit take AA right ok now it is funny that some AA do not work in canon camera. the best batteries for it are funny but they are the cheap batteries from dollar general the blue and yellow batteries. work great. the black and yellow wont work.

The LCD connection may be loose or the LCD itself broken. You may need to have a service centre replace the LCD unit.
