Problem with channel changing

My problem is similar to the one posted today by ajjm10306ny. My TV is plugged in. Cable connected. When I press up/down change channel buttons I get only: Input 1, Input 2, and three channels (10, 12, 70). The TV doesn't respond to remote control. I have GE universal remote (bateries are newly charged, green light shows when the remote power button is pressed). My cable bill is paid. Why can't I manually change to any other channel? Why doesn't remote work? Please help. Thanks.

I fixed the above problem (see my response to ajjm10306ny). My new problem is thay now my remote changes channels only if I type in the channel number. The up/down buttons don't let me get to cable channels (I'm again at Input 1 & 2, and the same three channels I had before figuring out how to use the remote). Any suggestions?

How to change channel from one to any one channel in sony bravia

I need more info. Are you using antenna connected to RF input or are you using cable box, sat box or ATT Uverse? If connected to antenna . go in menu or Home on Sony. Press setup and look for channel scan. Set to antenna and do auto scan. If cable or other provider box set tv to ch 3 or what ever provider says. You are then using the tuner in that box. You will use providers remote to change channels. Be sure in setup that tv is set to cable if cable box is used. Hope this helps but the info you posted could be more descriptive.

Change from 2.0 to 5.0

Sounds like your Cable box audio settings are outputting two channels (stereo) instead of five channels (surround). It could be on an automatic setting, meaning whatever the digital audio stream coming from the TV channel is, your Bose system will play audio in that config. Hence why it changed from 5.0 to 2.0.
Go into your Cable box audio settings and change the output to Dolby Digital (or similar). You will also need to be connected via a digital optical cable from your cable box to your Bose 321 to output true digital audio.
If you post the make and model of your cable box I might be able to give you more direct instructions on how to do this if your still having trouble.

How to connect a philips antenna to a trutech tv

Unplug your television and turn the set around so the back of the set is facing you.

  • 2 Disconnect the antenna or cable connection from the television's "VHF," "Antenna In" or similarly worded port if it is connected.
  • 3 Examine your splitter and notice one end of the device has a coaxial port while the other end has two coaxial ports.
  • 4 Plug the coaxial end of the television antenna into one of the two coaxial ports on the splitter.
  • 5 Plug the coaxial cable coming from the cable television connection outlet into the second coaxial port on the splitter. Use the port next to the one you used to plug the television antenna into.
  • 6 Place one end of a 2 foot piece of coaxial cable into the single coaxial port on the splitter.
  • 7 Plug the other end of the 2 foot piece of coaxial cable into your television's "VHF," "Antenna In" or similarly worded port.
  • 8 Plug in the television set and turn it around so the screen is facing you.
  • 9 Use your television's remote control to access the "Menu," "Setup" or similarly worded function. Or press the "Menu" or "Setup" button on the front of the television.
  • 10 Select the "Channel Setup" or similarly worded function. Set the Input to "Cable" and perform an "Auto Scan" to locate all available cable television channels.
  • 11 Select the "Channel Setup" or similarly worded function, then set the input to "Antenna" and perform an "Auto Scan" to locate all available broadcast channels. Your television will locate both broadcast and cable television channels.
  • 12 Scan the channels on your television to make sure all available channels have been found. If you are missing any channels that you know you should have, manually program the channels into your television using the "Channel Setup," "Manual Channel Setup" or similarly worded function.

I Have Proline LD1401 TV and it does not work with sound and picture, Only sound. What can I do. No money for new one.

    Hi! Welcome to Fixya!

If you are unable to view video on your television set, the issue may be that the TV's video input selection does not match.

The TV input source must match how the equipment for example DVD is connected to the TV. Every TV is different in the way that the ports are configured on the back of the TV and the menus are presented on the TV screen; however, there are some basic similarities between them.

You may follow the steps bellow:
    1. Please make sure that the cables are properly connected,
    2. Use the TV's remote control and change the video input selection.
Some common names of the button on the TV remote are:
    • Video Source
    • Video Input
    • TV/VID
    3. Press either of those button and check if that will give you options.
    4. If you are using a coax cable kindly cycle the channels from channel 1 to 10 check what channel can give you picture

For clarifications please keep me posted.

    Thanks!

I am trying to connect an Insignia flat panel TV to my existing Dish satellite system. Dish satellite system is not HDMI. We have: cable from the wall (satellite) connected directly to the new TV (exactly...

    Hi,

I really need to know the model number of your Insignia TV and which connections you are using between the Dish box and the TV to give you the correct answer. If you are connecting both cable and satellite, I believe it should be set-up as follows:

    1. Connect cable feed to TV
    2. Run auto channel scan on "cable" setting
    3. Connect Dish box to TV and then try changing the "input" selection.

With the Dish box switched on to a channel number you know, try pressing the "INPUT" or "SOURCE" button on your Insignia TV remote repeatedly until you find the satellite feed. Once you have done so, you should be able to change satellite channels using the Dish remote.

If you need further assistance, please post back with the model number of your TV and details of the connections you are using on the back of the TV.

I have a cable coming from the wall, and when I hooked it up to my TV Panaconic 42'' viera Just bought the TV today. . the screen is black and keeps saying No signal.... what could the problem be? Just had...

    Hi,

You either set the options incorrectly when running the "First Time Setup" or you skipped the first time setup entirely. Even though the cable works with your older TV, you still need to setup your new TV correctly to receive the cable feed.

The quickest way to do this is run the setup manually from the menu as follows:

    1. Turn the TV on
    2. Press the "MENU" button on the remote
    3. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "SETUP" (the arrows are the big ring button around "OK")
    4. Press "OK" to enter the SETUP MENU
    5. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "PROGRAM CHANNEL"
    6. Press "OK" to enter the PROGRAM CHANNEL MENU
    7. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key to ensure "CABLE" is highlighted
    9. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "AUTO"
    10. Press "OK" to enter the AUTO SCAN MENU
    11. Highlight "ALL CHANNELS" using the UP/DOWN arrows
    12. Press "OK" to start the AUTO SCAN

The scan may take several minutes to complete.

    13. Highlight "APPLY" using the the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys.
    14. Press "OK" - all of the scanned channels will now be saved.

The TV should now return to viewing mode and you should be able to watch cable on your new TV. If the TV does not automatically exit the menu, simply press the "EXIT" key on the remote, next to the MENU button.

Please run through the above steps and if you are still unable to get the cable channels on your new TV, please post back for further assistance.

My insignia tv shows a NO DATA BASE error on screen. How do i fix this.

    Try these tips:

Connecting your Cable box through Coaxial to the TV.
1- Turn on the TV and the Cable Box, secure all the coaxial connectors.
2- Press the "TV" button to be sure you are in the TV mode.
3- You need to set the TV in a specific channel for receiving the signal from the Cable Box, usually they are channel 3 or 4. Please press in the TV's remote those channels numbers and check if you are receiving signal about the Cable Box in any of them.
4- If you do, afterwards remember to continue using the Cable Box remote to change the channels instead of the TV one.

Connecting your Cable Box through RCA to the TV
1- Turn on the TV and the Cable Box, secure all the RCA wires.
2- Press the "TV" button to be sure you are in the TV mode.
3- Press the "Input" button to go to AV1 or AV2 depending where the Cable box is connected.
4- You should be receiving signal instantaneously after you have changed the Input and keep using the Cable Box remote for changing the channels.

    "Failed to receive broadcast"

On your TV remote, press "INPUT".It is hard to find, but it should be there.Select"TV" and press"ENTER" button.I believe it is on the top of the list.On some cable boxes you have to select channel 3 and use the cable box remote to change channels. Also, make sure your TV antenna setting is set to "Cable" from the "Air/Cable"(Antenna setting). You will have to read your manual to find out how to get to this menu. After that do a "Ch Search"[Channel search].This automatically searches for all available channels and stores them. It will take some time. You will see the channel numbers as it does it's search. This is done so when you press channel up and down keys it will only go to next channel available and not to one with no signal.Hope this is of some help.

When I try to set our TV to locate digital channels, the menu skips the channel selection when I scroll through options of picture, audio, channel, lock, setup. All the options are available.

It sounds like your TV is on a different input. If you watch your cable from an external cable box, and this box is plugged into your TV using wires that are yellow, red, and white, or red, blue, green, red and white, you're currently watching TV on a different input than the one used for the antenna. Channels in a TV are controlled by the tuner. The tuner is the silver, threaded, post on the back of a TV, DVR, converter box, or VCR, that you plug an antenna or cable wire to. The tuner contols channels while the other inputs on your TV carry a direct signal like a computer to a monitor. So when you use something other than coaxial cable to connect cable to your TV, you can't access the channel menu while on that input. To access that menu, change the TV's input or source to TV or stop when you see a channel number on the screen. You have to be on the TV or tuner input in order to access the channel menu. If you're on any other input such as, S-Video, AV1, AV2, component (Yp Br Cr), HDMI, etc. you will not be able to do a channel scan. You have to be on the right input or source.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.
