Fairly new blackberry curve overheated and battery drained

My 6 mo old blackberry curve overheated, felt really hot and then the battery drained, eventhough I had fully charged it about 4 hours before and was not really using it. What happened? Do I have a defective battery?

  • Anonymous May 16, 2009

After being very happy with a 3 day battery life for 3-4 months, I suddenly noticed that my phone got very hot and the battery depleted drastically. I will plug the phone in every night, and before lunchtime, I will need to change my battery.... And the same thing happens with any of my three batteries. I generally go through 3-4 full batteries in one day, with VERY minimal use. Sometimes not even receiving one single form of communication....

Try another battery if the same problem occurs then you should replaced teh mainboard or buy a new phone.

Got message that battery drained, device shut off and now cannot recharge, just dead

Hi! I have exactly the same problem! My BB curve died last Sunday. I bought a new battery, but it drained it again today.. I have been really careful with the phone and it is relatively new, so I cannot explain why this happens! Please let me know what you did with yours! Thank you beforehand!

Every time i turn on my blackberry 8320 it says battery drained.

It is the main board. If you have phone insurance through your carrier they should be able to replace it. Otherwise there is not much you can do aside from purchase of a new phone.

Blackberry curve 8320 wont charge? Keep sayin battery drained, shutting down handheld

Have you tried different chargers?
It's either the voltage regulator in your curve or a very weak almost dead battery.
You can test the batt if you have a friend with a curve, swap batteries in your phones and if yours works again and his does what yours did, get a new battery and all is well. If yours keeps acting up with the swapped battery, it may be time to get a new phone.

My Blackberry curve 8320 won't turn on it just has a battery icon with a red line through it on screen. The icon stays on with the backlight until the battery dies, A new battery was tried and problem...

This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.

1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

3. If that fails, try another battery (a friends or one from your cellstore) to see if tat's the problem. If so, (a) retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again, (b) buy a new battery for $60 retail or (c) buy a new battery on ebay for a lot less.

4. Take in.
