Hoveround mpv 4 goes in circles!

Bad connection on your motor. Bad connection on one of your batteries. Or a motor, or the controller / board has failed. all can be tested.

When changing a wheel one must remember to reinstall the shaft key, or the wheel will not be secured to the shaft. The shaft of the motor is turning but wheel is not.

You have one motor in free wheel. Which ever direction the chair is going to circle, place that motor back into drive mode. Depending on your model, the lever is gray and located just behind drive wheel or, is yellow located in the front under the seat.

I've looked at the Hoveround website and couldn't find a download for a manual for the MPV 4 So i would recommend calling Hoveround directly and asking for one You can call 1-800-542-7236 Hope this helps

Hi. your problem could be a couple of faults. Have you checked that both tyres have the same pressure in them? Problem could also be a faulty motor or brake unit. When these motors have done a few years work they build up carbon and copper dust from the brushes and the commutator. the motors can be tested for this if you find a clever serviceman. The motors should also be tested to see if they are both drawing the same current ( amps ) when in use. In answer to your last question, the answer is probably no. Good luck. Neil.

The top button on the controller with a circle and dash line is the power button. Sit down, buckle your seat belt, lower the footrest, power the chair on and press the joystick forward. You can control the speed by using the 2 lower buttons with horizontal dashes one them; 2 dashes goes slower, 4 dashes goes faster. The second row of lights is the speed indicator, you will see this light change as you change the speed.

Make sure that your tires are both inflated to 45-40 psi, have good tread and are not leaning on or out of the frame. Were both of your batteries replaced at the same time? Is there any noise or vibration coming from the motors that may indicate one has less power than the other? You may want to check the bearings in the casters to ensure they can move freely. You may want to check the bearings in the casters, that can cause a scrubbing noise and cause the chair to not turn well.

If there is a chirping noise, that may indicate a motor failure. There is a left and right motor, so if one is not working well, it can cause the power chair to not drive straight.

Call 1-800-771-6565 extention 5000. You will need the serial number of the chair and then they will get you a manual.
