You have a older Ti89 /Ti83 APP or software on your calculator that you have to have a key, a proper serial number and a certificate in order to run on your calculator. Like my calculator has certificate #19 which allows me to operate a certain APP that is not issued any more. You need to get rid of that APP or software and update it with the new version. Obviously, you did not just download this recently from Ti89 \ Ti83 or Calculus Made Easy. This should give you a clue to what you did wrong. I don't think Nils at Calculus Made Easy or Ti89 \ Ti83 will give you a certificate but, they will help you with your software needs. K24674 instruction to you on how to reinstall the OS v2.09 for Ti89 is correct. Just don't try reinstalling the APP's or software that you had on the ti89 \ Ti83. Go to the Ti89 \ Ti83 APP's and programming sites and download and install the new updated versions of those APP's and software for your calculator.

I tried to upgrade the OS from 1.07 to 2.09 on my old TI-89 calculator. During the transfer, I got the following error: "Cannot transfer. The connected TI device does not support this data type....

Sometimes you can just carry on as if no error message was seen and the OS downloader will upgrade the calculator anyway. I have had to use the old GraphLink software with the series gray cable to upgrade very old OS's. As a last resort, you may be able to delete the OS system entirely from the calculator (check on the Internet to see how to do that for your specific calculator) and use the TI Connect software with the silver USB cable to add the OS from scratch.

My TI-84 plus silver edition calculator is not responding. Whenever I press a button it takes forever to put it up on the screen or it doesn't work at all! I need some serious help with this. I tried...

Hi purzabumafu8,

You need to re-install the Ti 84 Plus OS on both calculators, ASAP!!! You can fix these problems by installing the newest Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS, operating system. Use fresh batteries.

If you have a friend that has a Ti 84 Plus or, Ti 84 Plus Silver Edition you can connect the two calculators together through the USB or, IO link ports. Then they can send you a copy of their OS, while you receive it on your Ti 84 Plus. Hopefully, your friend will have Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS on their calculator or, it might not work. Link the two calculator together through the USB or, IO link ports with the proper cable. If don't have another reliable calculator to connect too, you'll have to connect the calculator to a computer to download the OS, goto Procedure 5. If your downloading off another calculator goto Procedure 1.

Important Note: Never disconnect a TI Connectivity Cable during a transfer. Lost of power during installation of OS will destroy your calculator.

Procedure1. Procedure to linking to another calculator.
On their calculator press, [2nd][Link][G] [Right-Arrow]. On your calculator press, [2nd] [Link] [Right-Arrow] [Enter] and, then press [ENTER] on their calculator too. Their calculator should say, "TRANSMIT" and, your's will say "Receiving." Then on both calculators once transfer is complete press, [2nd][MODE] to quit and, return to the Home screen. If the OS was transferred then your finished with these procedures. If your calculator won't turn on or, is locked up try the Procedure 2, below.

Procedure 2.

Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [DEL] key. While holding [DEL], reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display
"Waiting...Please install calculator software now". If calculator did not turn on or, is still locked up goto Procedure 3, unless already did Procedure 3, then goto Procedure 4. If you calculator does come on and is responding and, your connect to another calculator goto Procedure 1. If you calculator does come on and is responding and, your connect to a computer goto Procedure 7.

Procedure 3.

Remove all of the batteries including the round lithium battery for 5 minutes. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and turn the calculator on. Adjust the contrast if necessary. Goto Procedure 2.

Procedure 4.

If the above process did not work. Try re-doing the Procedure 2, and, this time extend the time in Procedure 3, by 5 minutes to 10 minutes before you put all the batteries back in the calculator. These calculators can be a little stubborn at times so, keep trying Procedure 2.

Procedure 5.

If you can't find a calculator to connect too, you can connect your Ti 84 Plus to a computer that has Ti Connect software on it. If you need to connect your Ti 84 Plus to a computer make sure the Ti Connect software is operating properly. You do not want any hang-ups while installing the Ti 84 Plus OS.
Procedure 6. Procedure to installing the latest Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS. TI OSDownloader does not always install the latest OS.
You can get the latest copy of Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS and, guidebook by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS!" Once your at the Ti site click the Download Item, "Ti84 Plus family operating system". Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti84 Plus family operating system will download to you.
Next, click "SAVE" and then a window to a folder will pop up. It is probably a window to a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, save to this folder, "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads". You can also go back and, download the Ti 84 Plus guidebook too, if needed. If your calculator will not turn on or, is locked up goto Procedure 2. Or else goto Procedure 7.

Procedure 7.
Important Note: Never disconnect a TI Connectivity Cable during a transfer. Lost of power during installation of OS will destroy your calculator.
Link your computer and, Ti 84 Plus calculator with the USB cable or, Direct Black Link cable that came with the Ti 84 Plus calculator. Next, drag the Ti 84 Plus 2.55v MP OS that you saved earlier in "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads" out of that folder and, drop it in the "Ti Connect" icon on the desktop. Click, "Continue" when the "Erase Warning" pops up and, the new Ti 84 Plus 2.55v MP OS will begin to install. Next, the Ti Device window should pop up and, highlight the port when it finds what your Ti 84 Plus is using, USB1 cable or, Direct Black COM1.
oneplusgh_48.jpg

When the Ti Device Explorer finds and, highlights your calculator's information click, "Select." Then click, "Yes" when the next window shows up with your calculator's information and, the OS will continue to download. Upon completion the newest Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS will be installed.
If you run into any trouble with software or, drivers just comment to what failed at this posting and, I'll be glad to help you.

Hi kelsers,

You need to re-install your calculator's OS. After this process your Ti 89 Titanium will operate properly. If you do the process below make sure you use new batteries.

Warning!!! If you do this procedure make sure that your computer and, calculator are connect. Use Ti Connect software and, make sure you can install the OS on the calculator without any interruption. At any time even at the very beginning of this process, if your computer or, calculator gets interrupted or you have a power failure during the installation of the OS, your calculator will be destroyed. So not attempt this procedure during a thunder storm.

You can use the Ti OS Downloader but, you will have no idea what OS is stored by the Ti OS Downloader. So, I suggest following my instructions and, installing the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v.

Procedure to installing the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v.

You can also get the latest copy of Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v." Once your at the Ti site click the Download Item, Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. will download to you. Click, "SAVE". And then a folder will pop up. It is probably a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, "Save as" to this folder, "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads". You can also go back and, download the Ti 89 Titanium guidebook too, if needed.

Link your computer and calculator with the USB cable or, Direct Black Link cable that came with the calculator.

Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. On the older TI-89 you should see "Press I to install code...", and you should press the [9] key to continue. But, on your Ti 89 titanium it should say, "Waiting to receive..." or, "Waiting to received OS...". Now you need to follow the instructions in the paragraph below to restore the calculator's operating system.

Next, drag the Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. that you copied earlier to "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads" out of that folder and, drop it in the "Ti Connect" icon on the desktop. Next the OS Downloader Warning will pop-up. Click, "OK" to continue and, the new OS will begin to install. The Ti Device window should pop up and, click on to the port where your Ti 89 Titanium is located, USB1 cable or Direct Black COM1. Just click, "Select" and, the OS will continue to download. Upon completion the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.01v. will be installed.

I just upgraded my ti89 and now it will not detect in windows 7

I'm going to take it that your Ti 89 upgrade is a Ti 89 OS update. Check and make sure your Ti 89 OS is up to date with with OS 2.09v. For ti 89 Titanium your OS should be 3.10v. To check the version of your OS from the home screen press, [F1] [A]-About. The OS version should show up at the second line from the top of the "About" window that pops up. If you don't have the updated OS version you should go to the Ti web site and download it. Now let's try getting the computer and calculator connected.

When you have your computer and, Ti 89 calculator connected the calculator should be on and, at the home screen.

Procedure 1.

Go to your Start Menu and search for Device Manager.

Open up Device Manager.
Scroll to the USB controller and click the +. Turn the calculator ON then connect the USB cable to your PC. A new device will appear on the USB controller.
Right-click on the new device and, choose Update Driver Software. The Hardware Update Wizard will appear.
Choose "Browse my computer for driver software".
In the search field type in C:\Program Files\TI Education\Driver Files. Look for the tiehdusb.inf driver file.
Click on Next to finish installing the driver properly
Once the driver is installed click Finish.

Procedure 2.

Now click on the "Ti Connect" software on your desktop. Double-click the Ti Device Explorer located to the left inside the Ti connect window.

oneplusgh_41.jpg

The software should start looking for your calculator. A pop-up should display looking something like what is pictured below. Under device your calculator should display. If your calculator is located the software will highlight on to it. Click, "Select" and another window should pop-up.

oneplusgh_39.jpg

The next pop-up should look something like this. If your Ti 89 is present it will show up next to device and, probably won't say Titanium. Your cable type and port should be listed too.

oneplusgh_40.jpg

If all the information is correct in the window that appears click "OK" and, you should be able to start downloading. You can skip the rest of the procedures. If your Ti 89 still won't connect to the computer goto Procedure 3 unless you have already tried Procedure 3, then goto procedure 4.

Procedure 3.

If the above procedure still does not help then try un-installing and, re-installing the Ti Connect software. After un-installing re-boot your computer. After re-booting your computer you can get the latest copy of Ti Connect software by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti Connect software" At this Ti site under "View: Connectivity Software", Click, "the OS link that applies to your computers operating system". Next, click the Download Item, "Ti Connect software for ....OS". Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti Connect software for ....OS will be download to you. Click, "Save" and then a folder will pop up. It is probably a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, 'Save as" to this folder, "Desktop."

Next right-click the Ti Connect executable on your desktop and select, "Properties." Then click the "Compatibility" tab located at the top of the "Properties" window. Click the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for." and select "Windows XP Service Pack 2" from the drop-down menu. Click "Apply" and choose "OK." Double-click the TI Connect executable and select "Next" to begin the installation. Click "Yes" to OK the installation process to proceed. Then click "Finish" to complete the installation. Next, reboot your computer.

Now go back and try Procedure 1 and 2 again. If you have already tried Procedure 1 and 2 twice, go to Procedure 4.

Procedure 4.

If the above procedures fail then try a different cable and if possible a different computer.
If trying different cables/computers fails, please contact and fill out a Ti Cares Customer Assistance Form. You can get there by clicking this link, " Ti Cares Customer Assistance Form "

Attach a system information file to the email reply you receive from "Ti Cares Customer Assistance Form."

To get the system information file:

Go to Start Menu and search for System Info
Once loaded, click on File and choose Save
Name the file FirstNameLastName.nfo
Please check to make sure that system info file(.nfo) is the selected type of file.
Attach the .nfo file to the email reply

Hello,
The answer I gave you was taken verbatim from the TI FAQ and knowledge base. I copied and pasted the part relevant to you calculator.
In any case, I sent an e-mail message to [email protected], giving the link to your original question and my answer to it. I took the liberty to copy/paste your present message. I also asked about that invalid certificate.
