Screen is black

The camera screen is black when turned on. but it still displays the infos(remaining pictures etc...) but not the scene to be pictured

  • Eagle 23 Apr 02, 2009

I have been having the same problem. It seems to occur when I leave the camera on and attached to my PC for an extended time. The next time I try to use it, it is black except the menu items around the perimeter. I turn the camera on and let it sit for 10 minutes. This allows the power saver system to cycle off. The next time I turn it on it works fine.

Eagle 23: Press the "Disp" button and your LCD screen will turn on right away.

nazmil_mj: Can you take pictures or are they totally black as well? If you can only take black pictures then your LCD screen is fine and your CCD is bad or your aperture is stuck. Either of these means you need your lens replaced.

Don't bother asking a store for help (though you can if you like) they will tell you it's not fixable or will just send it to Canon and charge you $175 for the repair.

We are an affordable digital camera repair business, we can replace your lens for about $75!

Display screen does not show picture

Could be your camera is still working, but some settings are messed up?
You could have turned off the display. In the menu with IMAGE DISP. Is used to save battery power.
Then try making pictures in the mode automatic. Because if you switched to scene like bright sunlight or snow your pictures can be very dark.

I have canon sd 750. its lcd gets black. Shows pictures etc but view finder remains dark. display is zz. what to do?

Look for DISP or DISPLAY button in the lower-right corner of the back of your camera. Press this once while the camera is turned on. The DISPLAY button manually turns the screen on and off. This is to save battery power for extended use. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place.

My olympus e-500 will not display an image before taking a picture. Display is working for menu, review, etc.

In order for your camera to display the scene on the screen before you take the picture (the way point-and-shoot cameras work) it would have to have a feature called "live view". Your camera, as far as I know, doesn't have it.

Cannon Powershot A-620 black screen can't review

Did you accidentally press the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder to take pictures. To turn the screen back on, just press this button one more time.

I have an Olympus FE-230 and it suddenly starts taking black and white pictures. I don't know what I did, but how can I get color back?

I have had my Olympus FE-210 for about 2 1/2 years just recently it started to display an all black screen after I took pictures and like many of you I would turn it off and back on just to get 1 picture out. After testing it over and again I may have solved the problem: First: remove all of the pictures and memory card from the camera Second: go into the menu and find the reset button it will then display that the camera will return to default(factory setting) after I did this I was able to take over 35 continuous pictures using every setting and scene setting the camera has If this doesn't work I would suggest buying a new camera Hopes this helps!!
