My Timex Sleek lost it's backlight. I replaced the battery and the backlight works. But the beeper no longer works for either the Timer function or the Interval-function. The beep is more important to me than the backlight!
I have an older vesion Timex (without the Interval function) that had the same issue with the Timer-function losing it's beep after I changed the battery. You think I'd have remembered.
I have a box to send the watches Hotline Watch Service, but don't know what the cost might be.
Both watches keep time perfectly, but I could use full function of the beeper for a class I teach.
Not sure about the models. The older one is a Timex Ironman 30-lap ... but not sure of the number.
The newer one is the Ironman Sleek 50-Lap (women's)

I had this problem. I simply flipped the metal plate on the back 180 degrees.
I noticed on the inside of the metal plate a pad about the size of the battery, and guessed from the other notes that this must perform some kind of insulating function. Furthermore, the writing on the outside of the metal plate was not oriented "up"... that is if I was holding the watch in front of me like I was reading it, the writing on the back plate was upside down. Both of these clues led me to believe that the plate had been re-installed wrong. Flipping it around fixed (restored) the beep.
This is a common problem when non watch educated people are changing battries themselves.
The answer is simple: While changing battery and handling the watch you did lost the coil spring. It is so small, you will never notice that the something was dropped.
Coilspring is the connector to the sound membrane of the watch, transfering microprocessor signals to audible membrane.
If it's lost, there is no connection between watch movement and audio membrane.
I suggest that you did change batteries yourself previously and had the same outcome (no sound). Next time you gonna change the battery - make sure you do not turn the watch upside down and if you do - check the movement with eyeglass and make sure all the loose fitted bits are in place.
To get your both watches fixed visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask for coilspring to be fitted.
