I could be wrong, but from your limited description I am assuming that you cut the cord and wired direct to the box. You may not have 240 volts at the box and are trying to connect it to 120 volts. A dark green wire is the safety ground. The white is neutral and two colored wires are supply lines with 120 volts ( average) EACH. Better get someone in there that knows electricity and how to make proper connections to the proper voltage. Otherwise you are asking for major trouble.

SOURCE: Kenmore gas Range -- Control Panel not working
Hi. your assessment is correct. when you have normal operations with the stove top and the control panel is blank or non operational, this will confirm either a wiring harness issue or a dead control circuit board. The wiring harness can sometimes become lose or the connectors can become corroded but, in this issue, i am sure its the ECB(electroninc control board). In this case, you will have to replace the board it self.
Please rate and god bless:)
SOURCE: KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK
Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Are you sure that it is a wire ? It could be the capillary tube that has had the bulb broken off. The t-stat has a hollow tube (capillary) with a bulb on the end that senses the temp in your oven & tells the oven when it reaches the set temp to shut the heat off. The bulb usually is found towards the top of the baking chamber on either side or at the back. If this bulb is broken off, the t-sat needs to be replaced. There should be NO wires inside the oven, all wiring is routed on the outside of the baking chamber & is protected from the heat by a blanket of insulation.
