Kenmore 790 My sister recently bought a house and got new appliances and gave me the oven since mine was on the fritz. The oven was working when it was at her new place, it's a Kenmore 790, 46999103 oven. We just installed it using the heavy duty cord with three wires that are hard-wired in my kitchen island. The stove/burners work fine but oven doesn't at all, including no lights on the display. I thought maybe there was a separate breaker for the range or oven but there isn't. Is there a re-set button or something on the oven, or the wires might be installed wrong or do you think the oven somehow broke on it's way over? Thanks!

I could be wrong, but from your limited description I am assuming that you cut the cord and wired direct to the box. You may not have 240 volts at the box and are trying to connect it to 120 volts. A dark green wire is the safety ground. The white is neutral and two colored wires are supply lines with 120 volts ( average) EACH. Better get someone in there that knows electricity and how to make proper connections to the proper voltage. Otherwise you are asking for major trouble.

SOURCE: Kenmore gas Range -- Control Panel not working

Hi. your assessment is correct. when you have normal operations with the stove top and the control panel is blank or non operational, this will confirm either a wiring harness issue or a dead control circuit board. The wiring harness can sometimes become lose or the connectors can become corroded but, in this issue, i am sure its the ECB(electroninc control board). In this case, you will have to replace the board it self.

Please rate and god bless:)

SOURCE: KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

SOURCE: A wire is hanging from the stove top down into the

Are you sure that it is a wire ? It could be the capillary tube that has had the bulb broken off. The t-stat has a hollow tube (capillary) with a bulb on the end that senses the temp in your oven & tells the oven when it reaches the set temp to shut the heat off. The bulb usually is found towards the top of the baking chamber on either side or at the back. If this bulb is broken off, the t-sat needs to be replaced. There should be NO wires inside the oven, all wiring is routed on the outside of the baking chamber & is protected from the heat by a blanket of insulation.

Sears Kenmore 790 9505 oven the convection fan is always on while using the oven. No matter what setting. Is this normal?

This is not normal. If the wiring is intact, the problem may be due to a stuck relay on the control board. We can rebuild your control board. See here for contact details:

More than likely the oven requires a new thermostat, but would recommend an Appliance Repairer to confirm this solution.

Electric Diagram for Kenmore Model 790

Has the oven run out of control or gotten too hot? The 790 series is made by Frigidaire and those fault codes are F0 to F8. F2 indicates the temperature sensor is reading too hot. Now with the double oven models, some manufactures add an extra digit to the fault codes to indicate which oven created the fault.

Your most likely fix is to replace the temperature sensor. The most probable locations for the wiring diagram is taped inside the bottom drawer, on the back or under side of the oven, or behind one of the panels on the back of the oven. This might tell you the room temperature resistance for the temperature sensor so you can test it with an ohmmeter and be sure that it is faulty. Try Appliance Parts Pros for replacement sensors.
