16 month old 32" Dell TV and suddenly the sound quit working. Picture is great and all other functions appear normal. Standard troubleshooting/resets fail to resolve the issue. I've seen this problem with others and other forums, just wondering if there is a fix or workaround.
No Sound after EXACTLY 18 Months. The sound started cutting in and out at first, for about a day , then went out all the way. I was very pleased that the warranty was only 12 months and the dell repair center wants $281.00 plus the cost of the parts to repair. Shipping would be about $80.00. I just took to a local electronic shop today instead. No Sound after EXACTLY 18 Months. The sound started cutting in and out at first, for about a day , then went out all the way. Have the same TV, same problem. The only solution other than taking it in for repair locally, is to connect to surround sound system. The cost to repair was $280 and the issue stemmed from inside the TV itself and not the speakers or the wiring. I try and avoid sending any electronics in for repair to the manufacturer. The reason being, the TV can often be damaged in transition to the repair location. Not to mention, the shipping is costly when added to repair fees. Best and least expensive route, find some local repair entity to solve the issue, unless you are stead fast on using the warranty and you are sure it will be covered.Have the same TV, same problem. I have had the same problem. I sent to Tv to a local repairman and he said that the problem was the audio board had burned a fuse and that he was unable to find this specific part because dell does not make their own parts. My TV is 2 years old and the internal speakers just went out. I have emailed Dell and am waiting to see if my warranty covers at least the part. I am shocked that it will cost at least 280.00 to repair the fuse in the sound board, at least that is what I gather from the other posts. My TV is 2 years old and the internal speakers just went out. I had the same problem with my tv. I did take it to my local repair man. and he fixed it in 4 days. I don't know where anyone is located but I am in westchester county, ny and I took it to Stanton TV. He had no problem finding the parts. If you have to take it to a few repair men and see who can get the parts. Its worth it. cause its a great TV. I had the same problem with my tv. I have ahd my Dell TV W3201C for exactly 2yrs 1 month and the sound went out on me. I tried the few suggestions that I found on here and I am please to say that playing the tv off of my surround sound worked. I am still upset that I paid that much money for the TV and now I have jimmy rig it just to use it. I will attempt to see how much it will cost me to fix it, but I won't hold my breath.
I have the same problem with the same TV (16 months). So far the only option ive came across is just hooking up a surround system to the cable box for the audio.

should replace capacitor ( c 1010 marked on board if it is a M134C chasie also (c 1013) both capastors are 10 mfd at 16 volts. Also check (Q603) rca part number 266897 could be bad.
Hello there. I'm sorry to say that it sounds as if the element that actually energizes your screen is bad. It is most likely overheating. or quite poosible the power converter lost a resistor or 2.
heard a pop sound -- then the set went dead -- no lights, no nothing, and then there was a slight electrical burn smell coming from the back of the set :(
Check soldered in fuse R607 in power supply circuit =
If open, replace it and bad converter xistors ( 2SC4834)
Next, replace shorted horizontal output transistor w/ first Quality.
Solder any / all bad connects, esp.horiz drive to base of horiz.
o / p xistor. Soldering is critical or it will blow up again......
This is a common problem for sony tv sets. Most of the time it is cold solder connections on the horizontal driver transformer or around the flyback transformer.
Same Problem...what a pain in the neck
