Phone activation american roaming network

I have talked to about 8 sprint people to get my phone activated and everytime I get through activation. When I try to make calls, it says "welcome to the american roaming network...." My lg rumor screen cracked and I didnt have insurance and didnt want to pay a $50 deductible. So I purchased another one off ebay. Is there some way to deactivate from this american roaming network and go to my sprint plan? I guess im just going to return it to ebay to get another....

Yes, the American Roaming Network does exist. Checx the internet, 25 cents per minute.

The one you got from Ebay is defective. you were scammed. There is no such thing as the American Roaming Network, ARN is like a collect phone call service. You were scammed. Return the phone if you even can. sorry about that

Try taking the SIM card out of the old phone and putting in the new phone. What you bought off ebay is what is called a UNLOCKED phone. It is not tied to any carrier.

My cordless cellphone show that it is using roaming every time I Phone a number is that normal ?

Anna, I do not know what a "cordless cell phone" is.
If you mean a cell phone, it is on a Network, such as AT&T or Verizon.
"Roaming" usually means you are outside of the native area of the phone, either far from where you were when you activated the phone, or perhaps you are in a "dead spot" wherever you are currently, such as in a parking garage, out in the deep woods, etc.
Is the cell phone's phone number the exact same Area Code of where you live?
Have you changed Carriers, i.e. from Verizon to (ugh) Sprint?
Have you (or anyone else) changed the SIM card?
Are you making calls from a place that might be blocking the signal from the Cell tower?
Are you in a city or in a rural area.
"Roaming" indicates your phone thinks it is outside the area you subscribed to.
Roaming almost always is more expensive, so find out what is going on.

Sprint phones

  • CDMA carrier
  • Uses 800MHz and 1900MHz spectrums primarily (bands 26 and 25), and 2.5 GHz for Sprint Spark (band 41)
  • Does allow devices to be used on selected Sprint resellers such as Ting
  • Phones will not work with Verizon
  • LTE devices and iPhones may work with GSM networks, although service possibly limited
  • Still not an 'unlock friendly' carrier
Sprint has recently launched a 'Bring Your Own Device' campaign for selected MVNOs (smaller wireless providers who operate on its network).
This means that some (not all) Sprint devices will be able to be used on either Ting or Boost Mobile (unfortunately, Sprint's prepaid MVNO, Virgin Mobile, doesn't accept phones from any other carrier - you'll have to buy a Virgin Mobile handset to sign up for service).
Outside of carriers on the Sprint network, taking your Sprint phone to Verizon Wireless is more or less impossible. We've heard of people trying, but so far no success stories.
If you wish to take a Sprint device to T-Mobile or AT&T, you may be able to do so with LTE-capable devices and Apple iPhones...but there are no guarantees. Some handsets sold by Sprint are marked as 'global' phones, meaning they are also have room for a SIM card despite running on Sprint's CDMA network.
As confusing as it is, if you can get your Sprint phone unlocked, there is a chance you can have it activated for service on a GSM network - but you'll need to speak with your new carrier and ask whether they'll accept the make and model of your handset.
Even if you do get the all-clear, getting your phone unlocked is the tricky part. While Sprint are happy to unlock phones for international use (provided the device is paid off and the customer's account is in good standing), the company isn't as enthusiastic about unlocking devices when customers wish to take them to another carrier. There's more info about the unlocking process - and what a headache it can be - here.
And if you do manage to get your Sprint phone unlocked and find a carrier that agrees to let you bring it on to their network, it's unlikely that the phone will work in quite the same way as it did on Sprint, due to the differences in carrier networks we've discussed above.

If you're out of your home cellular network (T-Mobile) and you're in another country, maybe you don't have the roaming service active in your number profile, then you can have an error message, but if you have roaming activated, sometimes it's necessary to manually register into one of the available networks where you are.

My phone is saying digital roam mode when i make an outgoing call, how do i take it off so i can make outgoing call with no problem.

This is pretty much what you need to do. Just turn off all the roaming features. However when you roam it typically means you dont have service through Sprint so dont be surprised if when you turn off roaming capabilities your phone doesn't get ANY signal. Here's the link to your phones manual page 112 is about roaming.

Setting Roam Mode
Your phone allows you to control your roaming
capabilities. By using the Roaming menu option, you
can determine which signals your phone accepts.
Choose from two different settings on your phone to
control your roaming experience.
1. Press > Settings > More... > Roaming > Set Mode.
2. Highlight an option and press .
n Sprint Only to access only the Sprint network and
prevent roaming on other networks.
n Automatic to seek service on the Nationwide Sprint
Network. When Sprint service is unavailable, the
phone searches for an alternate service.
Call Guard
Your phone has two ways of alerting you when you are
roaming off the Nationwide Sprint Network: the
onscreen roaming icon and Call Guard. Call Guard
makes it easy to manage your roaming by requiring an
extra step before you can place or answer a roaming
call. (This additional step is not required when you make
or receive calls while on the Nationwide Sprint Network.)
To turn Call Guard on or off:
1. Press > Settings > More... > Roaming >
Call Guard.
2. Select On or Off.
To place roaming calls with Call Guard on:
1. From standby mode, dial 1 + area code + the
seven-digit number and press .
2. Read the message and press .
Note Call Guard is turned on by default on yourphone.

To answer incoming roaming calls with Call Guard on:
1. Press .
2. Read the message and press .
Data Roam Guard
Depending on service availability and roaming
agreements, yourphone may be able to access data
services while roaming on certain other networks. You
can set your phone to alert you when you are roaming
off the Nationwide Sprint Network and try to use data
services such as messaging.
To set your Data Roam Guard notification:
1. Press > Settings > More... > Roaming >
Data Roaming.
2. Highlight an option and press .
n Always Ask (default mode) sets your phone's Data
Roam Guard feature on. You will see a prompt that
will require you to respond anytime you access
data services while roaming.
n NeverAsk turns your phone's Data Roam Guard
feature off. Your phone will not notify you of your
roaming status when you access data services.
Touse data services when Data Roam Guard is active:
© When a notification appears informing you that data
roam charges may apply, press ROAM (left softkey)
to connect.
Note If the Call Guard feature is set to On, you need to
take extra steps to make and receive roaming calls.
