Best to reset to factory settings and then reconfigure the unit as per instructions in the attached manual. All the maps and data will be lost and you will have to re-install. So make sure you have access to the map files which can be reloaded after the settings are complete.

Hello,

yes you can rest your tom tom. If you don't know how to do the reset, follow the steps below:

Remove the TomTom GO from its cradle.
Turn the unit upside down.
Look for a small hole in the bottom of the unit. It will be located just behind the release button. The reset button is recessed inside this hole.
Straighten out one end of the paperclip.
Press the recessed button by inserting the straightened end of the paperclip into the reset hole.
Hold the button down for ten seconds, then pull the paperclip out of the hole. Your Tom Tom GO should now be reset back to the original factory settings.

I have brought this device 2 months back in october 2009,but now it is not catching the satellite,and not showing further route..i have tried couple of time .its not working

You're asking about a Tom Tom, right?

Try hitting Reset.

1) Find the Reset button (in a hole on the bottom of the unit). Press and hold it using a paperclip or a dull pin.

2) Turn the unit back on. Does this solve the problem?

If not, try:

Reset Factory Settings. To do this, first Show All Menu Options (this is from the Preferences menu).

Then, again from the Preferences menu, tap Reset Factory Settings.

Have you made a backup of your Tom Tom? You do this from Tom Tom Home on your home computer.

If you don’t know what the 4 digit password is you will have to reset the unit. This will clear all saved information.

Reset factory settings
To show all menu options, tap Show ALL menu options.
Reset factory settings
Tap this button to restore the factory settings to your TomTom ONE XL. All your settings, including Favorites, your Home location, warnings for POIs and any Itineraries you have created, as well as recent destinations and recent calls and callers, will be deleted.

No GPS signal?

I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory settings.

I have a Tom Tom One US/Canada Version with CE designation on the unit. The on button stays on and will not turn off and nothing on the screen at all. I even did reset even pressing the resrt sequence fr 15 sconds and on button and the unit is fully charged and is not working. Is this thing shot?

make sure you're fully charged, remove any optional memory cards (depends on the unit) there should be a reset hole, place a straightened paperclip into the hole and press for 15 seconds.

make sure you're fuly charged, press and hold the on/off button for about 15 seconds until the unit restarts
