Removing strainer blade/basket for cleaning

I use to be able to easily twist and remove the mesh basket/blades and the .part that it sets in by simply twisting the base metal part with the juice spout a bit, lately it is really sticking and it is difficult to remove can I use olive oil or something as a lubricant?

SOURCE: My juicer is about 10

You might have been able to find a replacement seal for the top but if the bottom is leaking that means the seal is gone there as well and that means replacing the container. The real problem is finding any of these. And when you do the cost is going to be as much as a new unit.

I'm afraid the best advice is to replace the entire unit. The only thing is to make sure you buy a quality unit if you want to get any useful life out of them. A cheap unit is going to start leaking within a year or two (about 30 seconds after the warranty runs out) a good unit will give you hopefully another 5-10 years of use.Might cost more now but you won;t have to replace it that quickly either.

I need to remove the parts for washing How I do this?

Things You'll Need:
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Stiff-bristled brush
  • Dishwasher (optional)
  • Mild detergent
  • Lint-free microfiber cloths
  1. Unplug your Acme 6001 Juicer. Carry it to a countertop near your kitchen sink.

  2. Remove the pusher and cover, and set the pieces in a sink. Unscrew the clutch, remove it and set it in the sink. Remove the cutter blade, strainer basket and juice bowl, and place the pieces in the sink.
  3. Discard or remove and store any pulp that you find in the strainer basket. When you're finished, rinse the remaining fruit and vegetable pulp and juice from the pieces under cool, running water. Dislodge hard-to-remove pulp from the cutter blade and strainer basket with a soft-bristled brush or with a stiff-bristled brush if necessary.
  4. Wash the pieces in a dishwasher or by hand. To wash in a dishwasher, place the stainless steel pieces in the lower rack and the plastic in the top rack and wash on a normal cycle with other kitchenware. To wash by hand, fill the sink with warm water and a few drops of mild detergent and wash with a lint-free microfiber cloth.
  5. Run the pieces through the rinse cycle in your dishwasher or rinse under running tap water by hand. Air or wipe dry the pieces.

  6. Wipe the base with a slightly soapy cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Reassemble your juicer by returning the pieces to the base in reverse order.

How do you open the acme juicerator to clean out the extract

I have a 1962 manual which might be too old but here's what it says: When juicing is completed, simply remove the spring-clamp top, unscrew the wing nut or spring clutch that holds down the cutter blade, and all parts to be cleaned may be lifted from the base. Bowl and top, being non-porous, similar to glass, require only rinsing. Blade should be washed under running water, using a stiff brush. Since the basket is made of stainless steel, it, too, cleans easily. After taking out the the pulp, let cold water run on the outside of the basket while you brush the perforated section. Any remaining particles of pulp will be loosened and can be removed with a damp sponge or by rinsing. Dry and reassemble for next use. Turn machine on and let run a few seconds.
Hope this is of some help.

How to clean blade and screen

First thing you need to do is take it apart, which can be done pretty simply until you get to the actual blade and strainer. You will need to use the crescent tool, the one with two pins. Insert it in the blade, and turn it counterclockwise while holding the filter so it doesnt turn. All the parts should come apart easily.

i find the best way to clean these parts is using a small brush, not a sponge or rag.

Cant grt it apart to clean

Take off the top part of the juicer that has the chute. You will see the blade and basket. The blade appears to be attached to the basket with three small screws but is actually screwed onto the basket by a large screw that protrudes out of the basket underneath the blade. So the trick is to unscrew the blade, turning it to the left by using maybe a small screwdriver that you will have to put into one of the two small holes that are on the blade surface and pushing the blade to the left. This should loosen the blade and then you can just unscrew the blade off the basket. Once you get that blade off, the rest of the juicer comes apart. The newer models come with a little tool with a couple of arms that go down into those holes and loosen the top. Good luck.
