Hi, try taking out the batteries and leave out for 1 minute, this may reset it. If this doesn't work well I am afraid your Zune has just had a Software Crash. Which will have to be serviced.

I would recommend you to hard reset the player using the instructions below:
WARNING: A hard reset will delete everything on your Zune.
Press and hold the back button
Press and hold up until it reboots
Depending on which Zune you have, immediately do one of the following:
If you have a Zune 4 GB, Zune 8BG, or Zune 80GB, immediately press and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press the right side of the Zune pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following message: "Clearing contents. Please wait."
If you have a Zune 30GB, immediately press and hold the Back button Back at the same time that you press the right side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following message: "Clearing contents. Please wait."
I hope the above steps would help resolve the issue.
Please revert back for any more issues that you may face.
I had a similar problem with my 30GB Zune. The first normal solution is to make sure that the USB port is providing enough power to the Zune to charge it by trying a different port or computer, but since your other Zune charges it is likely not the problem.
Other possibly solutions are performing a hard reset on the Zune (hold back and up until it resets), or allowing the zone to completely discharge and try again. In my case, none of these solutions worked and I was forced to send my Zune in for a new battery, which Microsoft was willing to replace for free.
there is a "lock" button on the top on the left side make sure this switch is turned to off.
Try one or more of these solutions to resolve this problem:
The Zune may be locked. Move the hold switch to the unlocked position. It may help to move the switch back and forth. Then press the play/pause button for a second.
The battery may be drained.try recharging it
To reset your Zune, press and hold the back button while pressing up on the Zune pad. Resetting turns Zune off and on again.
i had this problem too, i would plug the zune into the computer trough usb cord, and have your zune home page come up automatically if it doesnt click the zune software shortcut. Go to top corner and go to settings, after that go to device and syce options. finally you need to press erase all content and your zune will be clean and rebooted up. when i did this my zune turned on and was back to normal, the only thing that sucked was that it took so long for me to figure this out and i had to syce everything back on my zune agian
e mail me if you have anymore questions at [email protected]
i can also help you with many other microsoft problems
Zune lock is the switch at the top of the zune correct? Slide it into unlock position.
If it's passworded and you can't get it unlocked
try this: Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad. Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.
Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.
To reset the zune you must press and hold the back button and the top part of the zune pad. Other parts of the zune pad will not work.
When plugging the zune into your PC does the PC detect it (device manager -> portable devices). You should hear the ding sound of hardware connecting.
If it is connecting to the PC and is not detected by the software than it is likely a permissions problem. Right click the software icon and choose run as administrator.
If it is not detected by the PC than check your usb cable and make sure your zune is charged and not frozen.
