Try unplugging the player from electrical power for several minutes. Plug the player back in and try to eject the tape.

Entire front panel does not work, but responds to control.

have you pulled the plug from the wall for a few minutes?

also, some vcrs will eject the tape when the RECORD button is pressed on the remote, and a tape is inside that has the record tab REMOVED!
good luck

Tape keeps getting ejected

This unit requires the rubber parts to be replaced. The loading sequence is not completing properly. The VCR will eject the tape when the sequence fails as a safety measure to prevent damage to either the VCR or the tape.

Parts cost for this should not be more than $10.

RCA VR688HF VHS VCR won't accept tapes

The brain in a VCR has a little switch assembly that senses what position all the mechanical stuff its in. Apparently, the mech is out of whack which is why it won't let you play. This is a common problem and any VCR shop should be able to repair it.
