It sounds like that missing pin is your problem, the trolley attached to the arm with the pin. Its hard to diagnose, but call in a Door Opener guy and he can probably fix it in a few seconds for free. Otherwise, try and find the pin or something like it to fix the arm in place and see if you can MANUALLY operate the door that way. BTW, Disconnect from power before you try and experiment.

I have no access to my garage and the handle to open it manually is not installed. the keypad and openers need to be reprogrammed but we have no access to the motor unit inside the garage. We are totally...

It is not fixable without access to the motor unit. There is a way to open the door but it involves drilling a hold and using a long tool to reach the manual release. A door opener technician can do this job.

I just installed a new 'rack' to my Craftsman Garage door opener on the screw drive rail system. It now goes up and won't go down. How do I adjust the up / down limits to get it going?

You will need to release the door from the opener and then open the door manually and make a mark on the t-rail where the trolley is. Then remove the t-rail from the motor unit and manually run the rack to the mark on the t-rail. Now run the motor until it runs and stops in the up position. Reassemble all the pieces. This will get everything back into sync.

Motor hums but door doesn't move. If I disconnect door and give chain a horizontal poke, it will move. When I reconnect door it returns to humming, without movement.

Remove the cover from the motor unit and you will find the drive gear has stripped. White sawdust all over. The part number for the gear kit is 41A2817 and it comes with instructions. It is available at any good door opener service company.

My garage door opener only opens the door 1-2 feet high and then stops. What could be the problem?

My guess is that you have a broken spring. Look at the springs and see if you can see a gap in one of them. If you pull the release and you can't open the door without struggling then you definately have something wrong. The opener is trying to heft weight that it is not designed for and is stopping itself to prevent damage.

Garage door will not open or close

Hello, You should have a cord in the middle if the track up high to release the door from the motor bracket. i would release it and confirm that the door will raise and lower with you pushing it. Then if the door feels free I would lower the door manual and go over the the inside button and press it to see if the motor will run without the pressure of the door. This will at least pinpoint where your problem is. The door itself could just be in a bind within the tracks so by releasing it from the motor that might free it up.

I hope this helps you and have a great weekend.

Sears/Craftsman Garage Door won't budge

with the door down, disconnect with the emergency release, see if the motor operates
with no load...if the the track moves you probably have something obstructing the door
ie; a broken spring, door locks, etc ... the chain should be adjusted for just a little
**** mid way down the rail (1/4") if it still doesn't move ... call sears.

Thats one of the symptoms of a lightning strike or a power surge. Without actually being there I would suggest replacing the back-board. But as with lightning strikes and power surges sometimes other electronic components could have been damaged as well.
