Your virtual drive was stored in ROM which was cleared by changing the CMOS battery. It will have to be recreated.

Read the PDF in the link below on page #3 listed as JBAT1. Open your case and locate the CMOS reset pins. Move the reset jumper from current position (usually Pins 1+2) to reset position (usually pins 2+3) Power on the computer and hit keyboard key (F10) to get to the Bios and check if Bios was reset.. Consider that password protection will not normally be removed on CMOS reset, you will need to ask HP or look around the internet for a way to reset a password protected Bios.

replace the battery.. the internal battery is dead not the big battery under the unit but a watch battery installed on the motherboard.. i know what you mean i hate dead cmos battery and messes up windows clock and stuff..

Open the cover of PC and look at motherboard, near the CMOS Battery, find CMOS Jumper, by default, pin 1 and 2 is short, to clear CMOS, short pin 2 and 3, Power ON your PC, Then Power OFF, Change Jumper position to default, Power ON your PC and follow instructions.
