Yes this is an indication of loose connection. Open the back cover of the unit and then pull-out the connectors from the sustain boards and buffer boards, inspect and then re-insert and ensure that they are properly seat-in.

Check whether it is working normally when connected to the external monitor. If it is working normally then the problem is with your LCD controller that is located inside the LCD panel itself.

This is most likely being caused by capacitors in the power supply changing value. Take it to a reputable repair person.

I believe that this could be a type of "burn in". If you watch anything with a black stripe on the sides or bottom of the screen often, then this could be the problem. My suggestion is to watch things that have no black side bars for a while (>week) and see if this eliminates the problem.

If you're using component video cables, make sure they are good and tight. If it's composite video or S-video inputs, you will likely need service.

It sounds like your lcd is cracked. I am unfortunately speaking from personal experience.

this is due to improper power supply or a loose connection inside. the symptoms are of power supply unit inside projector. check out the current and amperes inside the projector on board. sometime the current stable but the ampears are down.also check the switching transistors & filters inside.......

check settings and make sure your player is set to play NTSC AND NOT IN PAL MODE
