Does not spin dvd
Sometimes the brushless motor driver circuit fails. Rarely does the motor itself go bad. On some models, if the the laser diode is too weak to read the disc, the player will not bother to spin it. It won't spin so a lens cleaner disc won't work You can try to take it apart and clean the tiny lens. Don't use alcohol. Windex and a Q-tip works great to remove grease and dirt. Don't buff it hard. Just wipe lightly a few times and look at it at an angle to make sure it is shiny, not hazy. Almost all of these are not an economically viable repair. If cleaning the lens does not help, you are looking at another portable player.

There is a small button on top when the screen closes it turns off the display. While the movie is playing press the small button with a small pointing object and see if the display shows something on the screen for a few second and then off (you can sometime see the movie playing but very dim). then there is a problem with the switch not switching the display back to normal. Hope this helps...
