My flat screen tv cuts off and on while the power but is on what should i try before i buy a new one .... I have a ...
Feb 3, 2011 - TV/VCR/Stereo Troubleshooting/Toshiba TV power outage - no power... we had a power outage (they're calling rolling blackouts due to power grid ... but I admit I'm now afraid to turn it off for fear it won't come back on again.
May 27, 2015 - My toshiba tv is flashing but won't turn on with remote or power botton on tv itself ... dang this worked for me but after a minute it stoped working.
Sounds like your TV has lost the DVD channel. Turn off TV and make sure the DVD player is connected to TV and is playing a DVD. Now put you TV on and press the SOURCE or AV button on your TV remote until you can see the DVD channel. In older TVs you may need select channel and tune it manually using the TV setup.
What you have to do it go to the TV Menu and go to channel. Then go to channel scan and do one of those. THe problem is that is just doesnt know where to look for channels, but a quick scan will fix that.
Have you had any major power outages in the days leading up to this issue? It could be a power source, cable or outlet. Try different outlets if you can and see the tv responds.
From GUEST: I found this solution in the manual and will perform this task again to see if I can get the tv will be re-recognized again. Give this a try, too.
Remote will not turn on or shut off the TV.
• You must program the converter box remote in order to control your TV power button.
• To program the remote control:
Determine if the TV is a model that can be controlled by the remote control. See "Controllable TV brands" on page 17 in the manual.
Turn on the TV.
While you press and hold TV POWER on the remote control, press CH ^ or CH v one or more times until the TV turns off. Each time you press one of these buttons, the remote control sends a manufacturer code (between 1 and 45) to the TV.
I have had my converter box 5 days now. I hooked it up to the TV and set it up. No Problem. Except there are no instructions on how to set up the VCR/DVD player with it, which we use more than we do watching TV. Everything worked fine until on the second day we had it I read I could program the remote to turn the TV on and off. I followed the instructions and the TV went off. When I turned it back on, my remote went berserk. If I try to change a channel it will quickly flip through all the channels until I turn the converter box off. Same with the volume, it goes up and down, up and down until I shut off the box. The remote does not work unless you are about 1 foot away from the box. And the remote has never turned the TV on or off except that first time I programed it.
f you had multiple power outages, i would contact the power company
or/and insurance company and it should be covered under that, but
sounds like power supply problem if you had power surges
if lighting cause it then it could be anything.
turn on your tv, press and hold tv button, then the on/off button, it will light up then press the power button.and it turns off....hold.
After holding down both for buttons for 3 secs the light on the on/off key turns back on.
Release both keys and the light should stay on.
Now hit the On/off button repeatedly until the tv turns off, when it does hit the stop button to save code.
