Samsung Hard Disk MP0804H

Good Day! I have the above hard disk with the external casing a while ago. I now want to use it as an internal hard disk. When I connect it, the computer doesn't recognize the disk. I want to install XP Pro on it but the hard disk wasn't showing up. In the BIOS setting it says, hard disk undetected. Do I need to set the jumpers? I don't see the point cos by defualt it should be "Master" My Laptop is COMPAQ presario X1000.

I had the same problem. I found that my hard drive connector was missing. This is why the computer can't read the disk. The cost of the connector is about $2, but as of yet, I haven't found the one that fits my model MP0804H Samsung 80 gb hard drive. If you find one please let me know.

You do NOT need to buy a new Samsung disk-drive.
You can buy a replacement from Western Digital, or from Seagate/Maxtor, or any other manufacturer.

Take your current Samsung disk-drive to the computer-store, so that they can sell you a new disk-drive with IDENTICAL data/power connectors (either Parallel-ATA or SATA).
