How to slave hard drive?
To configure the hard drive as a slave drive, you need to set a jumper on the hard drive to SL (slave)
The other jumper settings are MA (master) and CS (cable select).

I want to replacement of
You do NOT need to buy a new Samsung disk-drive.
You can buy a replacement from Western Digital, or from Seagate/Maxtor, or any other manufacturer.
Take your current Samsung disk-drive to the computer-store, so that they can sell you a new disk-drive with IDENTICAL data/power connectors (either Parallel-ATA or SATA).

HDD PROBLEM
you have not listed the problem so i guess
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
hope this helps
