JSprings Movement, Seiko VF62, battery change

Hi I have replaced a similar J-Springs battery but was baffled by the label on the inside of the watch back "after installing the battery, be sure to short + on battery with 'Area AC" - I do understand the principle but where, or what, is 'Area AC' please? Your advice would be appreciated.

Shortcut battery with AC contact. AC can be found on the sides of watch movement(very tiny). You have to use pointed tweezers: one end on battery+, another on AC contact for three secs.

SOURCE: Opening back of watch for battery replacement

Turn the watch sideways & look around the edges of the back of the watch. You may have to use a magnifier to do this. Look for an area that has a gap. Put the knife there & pry it open. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Replaced battery, now no beep.

I have a Timex Digital Heart Rate Monitor 585 (product code T5C351F5)m, which has the same Short AC Pad and battery +ve message. There is an arrowhead pointing to the pad. It's a raised metal platform - a bit different to some of the Ironman's mentioned above. Here is a pic...6e1fe0e.jpg

SOURCE: I am trying to change

I have a similar model.  The electronics sometimes needs to be reset after the battery is changes.  Get a magnifying glass and look closely at the stainless frame around the battery.  There is a small AC mark and a triangle which points toward a small gold contact down in an adjacent hole.  This contact must be shorted momentarily to the + side of the battery to reset the display.  You can bend a metal paper clip to make the connection.  You may have to try several times before it resets. It should reset to 12:00 and start running.

SOURCE: how to remove back for battery replacement - 19

This is a little tricky, I think this has a screw on back. It takes a two or better a three prong tool to remove back. A new seal shoud be on hand to replace this. Watch should have a consumption test and a min run voltage test, if either of these fail a new circuit board or movement should be installed. Take it to a good watchmaker and they will clean the outside before opening and do a water resistance test after assembly.

Is there a way to get seiko to repair my 7N43-8A38 "A1" Watch?

If it has a battery op movement you could have a non original batt op movt installed for 15 bucks and it will work like new but if it is a mechanical movement then you will have to replace necessary damaged parts

Hi,
If your watch stopped working while changing the time it can be for a couple of reason . One is i never set the watch between the hours of 11 pm and 4 am or else your movement can be damaged. The main reason is usually that the watch crown was not pushed all the way in to the first set . If the watch crown and stem is pulled out and not in the start position the watch will not run. Also after setting time you might need to reengage the watch by pressing on the jumper buttons on the top side of the crown they look like push buttons.

Need owners manual for Seiko Quartz Chronograph Sports 150

I feel sure that Seiko will have a copy of the instructions in their archive, so if you contact them they should be able to send you a copy.

(Either that or advise you which watch has similar instructions).

Time keeping

Hi suliva,

If you check the manual of the watch you will see that error of these watches is +-15sec/month (depends on the movement and temperature of operation that you have) which brings your error inside the range. Don't worry. If you keep your watch around 28oC it will have min. error.

Seiko Chronograph 7T32 minute hand inactive after battery replace

you often need to do a full reset on 7T32s (& other seikos) after a battery change. there is a small reset contact in the rear of the movement which needs to be shorted to the top of the battery (the movement is engraved with wording to this effect, something like "AC reset", I can't remember exactly). you might also try pulling out the crown all the way (2 clicks) then holding both upper pushers in for a few seconds. it's unlikely to be a buggered motor unless it's one of the subdials that's failed.
